65 F100 4x4 got for parts only turns DD project

Thanks for the comps. Yeah its pretty amazing as the carb, fuel pump, and motor all just sat there. The radiator and heater core are the same ones that were in the truck when I got it. No telling how long they sat. All three the motor the heater and radiator all had some antifreeze still in them. I kind of remeber emptying the carb before storage. So far all is working and no leaks. I find that almost beyond belief. Hope these arent famous last words. Stay tuned. . My brother lives down in your part of the state in Yakima. We were just out at Tee-Pee auto a few months ago gathering some parts.

I for sure dont know were Tee-Pee auto is, however I have found there are a few good place in my neck of the woods to gather parts. If you need it, I have a 4bbl intake off of a 64 T-Bird with the original carb. It may give some more life to your old girl. LOL But seriously I like what you have done with the truck so far, in less than a year. Im following this one closely.

Never had one. I had a friend in high school that had one and always liked it. My dad had one of the first with the ponycar interior. So thought Id like to try to restore one just for fun and it would be a little break from the trucks.

The pony interior is pretty cool. I really like the running horses formed right into the seats.
My first car was a 66 coupe ( bought it when I was 13 ) . I think it's been about 6 or 7 years since I've had a Mustang ( It was a 64 1/2 coupe ) . I've owned pretty much every year of the early Stangs except 68, 69 & 73. They are very easy to work on and/or modify.
One of the nice things about a Mustang is they have a very large aftermarket. So getting any part you'd ever need is not a problem ( as long as you've got the cash, which is my big problem ) .

We stuffed it in the garage for a complete brake job. Its tight but just enough room to work around it and stay out of the weather. Last time I had a truck in here for repairs was about 10 yrs ago. 85 nissan 4wd to change a clutch and I thought it was crowded then Ha Ha.

As much dirt as I had to scrape off of this truck. Id be surprised if it ever was parked inside anyplace. It wont be inside very long as it needs to go back out as soon as the brake job is done. I have to get back to the restore on my 63. I have neglected it for too long now. Its been an enjoyable trip getting to this point. More will be done on the 65 as time allows.

Thank you it helps to have had a good stockpile of parts saved up over the years. Also alot of help from my younger son. Also an understanding wife. I have owned a few of these vintage 61-66 trucks and it helps to have a good working knowledge of them to fall back on. Having service manuals for the particular truck or car you are working on helps too. There is alot of good info on the internet today that did not exsist over 20 some years ago when I started working on these old Fords. Using this web page like FTE or Slick60s is very helpful too. You can get lots of useful info out there and very helpful people. Im glad to share my work process photos and knowledge where I can. I may not always be right or know exactly what someone needs but put my 2 cents in where I can. Still more to come on this truck as progess occurs I will post pics as updates occur. After the brakes are done still need an exhaust system so a few more things before its legally on the road. I hope that yourself and anyone that looks at the build is able to take away something they can use.............. Vic..... see you on my 63 build
