The 6 lug x 7.25" pattern was used on F-350s from '53 to '66 on both DRW and SRW models. On the '53s and '54s, like Ken's, the SRW model used a deep dished wheel like the dually with 5" offset. In '55 the SRW model got wheels with 1/2" dish while the DRW naturally continued using the deeper wheel. The tubeless 17.5" #79120s have 4.75" offset vs. the 5" of the widowmaker 17s.

Your 19.5" x 5.25" #72070s were early wheels. They were not warranted for use with radials, but that shouldn't stop you from using them since I doubt you'll be driving the truck to put much strain on the wheels and tires.

If, however, you want to go with bias ply traction tires on all corners you could do me a REAL favor and buy these that are now on Craigs List. If you buy them, I don't have to!!! These are NOS bias ply 8-19.5" Mohawks similar to the Coopers I found last fall. The guy only wants $50 each, but they are in Texas so there'd be some shipping involved. That price beats heck out of what radials would cost. Stu

Scott,
I found a couple wheels that looked like that but were all on GMC or Chevy (hub piloted) and different lug pattern.

This place was pretty busy today, and a bunch of stuff had been moved around just since last Thursday (apparently Scrap is $250 a ton right now ) at least they were only hauling off the new stuff, which was being brought in, then transfered. he assured me the old stuff wasn't going anywhere...

Mark; I scoured the place and found nothing remotly close to your one of a kind wheel there! but I'll keep my eyes open when out and about.

I found the wheels that Stu was looking for on that old International but they were pretty rusty upon further investigation. (couple could maybe ? still be ok?? ) but chances are all 6 of them are bad rusty behind lockring and swelling between the rivited pieces.

Found a bunch of wheels that would probably work for KenJ if he wasn't so set on using those widowmakers! just messin with ya Ken. but seriously, you have some good options out there if you come to change your mind.

Stopped by another place on my way home and found 3 more 20" lockrings.
and a yard that had a couple rear axles with 20" lockrings and tires. looked like maybe more 19.5's and or 22.5" etc but couldn't see too far from the gate (nobody was home)

Cheers.

I got my new stocton's yesterday ,they are still in the box waitin' going to have them run out and check the balance of the bare rim today and hopefully I can get tyres on them for the weekend..I think...for myself that I like the widows because everyone is so afraid of them...just like why I like my Harleys...mom thinks they are dangerous ...an we both know it the operator that is the problem..

thanks for looking josh, keep your eyes open. and ken, good idea to check the run-out on the stocktons, hope they are straight and round. as far as being scared of a WM i dont think thats really the case. more like respect. years ago they use to play football with leather helmets and no face-mask. doesnt mean i would want to do that today. hell, they use to race nascar with a lap belt. man, those were the days. good luck with the wm and i will try to find you another one. keep your head down!

Josh - You find the Motor Wheel Spoksteel wheels like Scott's almost exclusively on Chevies and GMCs, which would be hub piloted, but they were also made for Ford and the others in a stud piloted mounting. In James Wagner's book he says they were actually an upgrade over the standard equipment Budds.

I appreciate your efforts in finding the 59340s. I hate it when I've found them, then see they're ruined. Time to do another yard tour to the southwest or through the desert northwest to see what I come up with. Stu

Too bad about the rust. That's how most I've found looked.

There's a guy over on the 61-66 forum looking for those 17.5s. Here's the thread.

Mark - You're right that the manual doesn't give Budd numbers, only M-H numbers. There are two sizes listed, a 17" x 5" and 17" x 4.33". I'll spare you too much detail on the differences and alternative part numbers. The bottom line is a full set of 59340s was on the '53 F-250 chassis I parted out. Also, Rod Kruithoff's green F-3 sits on a full set of them, and the red '51 in the Pioneer Museum sits on a full set of them. My red truck had one when I brought it home (and three 4.33s), and the white truck had 20" widowmakers that long ago got melted into your neighbor's Kia.

Ken - If you saved my email address I'll post the pics for you. Or do me a pm. Stu

I think this was a screaming deal. Great looking 8 x 19.5" bias ply traction tires, and at a super price. Just what your M-H needed. I wish I understood why the tire manufacturers don't make this tread design in a 19.5" size anymore. Stu

Those are great tires, great price too. I would have seriously considered them as well if I Though I would be ready to drive the next truck in the next decade!

Hey Havi,

Look what I saw this morning at work on my way out to a project!

the other front was a normal wheel with 5 handholes, and couldn't see the duals from my vantage point.

and the project! A road from nowhere going to nowhere LOL

(this is the Gully that I found the Tarantula, and old widow maker and the 58 Ch)vy in last summer!
