went on a walkabout today, found some wheels!

i went out to the top secret junkyard today and found some 22.5 tubeless five lugs, dont have a number off them but they had 9x22.5 tires. only 2 though. found some 17.5 six lug tubeless also. Stu has picks of both so maybe he can post them, i dont know how to get them off my phone and posted. i might just buy them all if the price is right but thought i would check here first to see if anyone would be interested. also found a radio for my 52 but its missing one ****, a grill for my 66 galaxie, a super sweet bed for one of the manure spreaders and a couple of those really wide 8 lug steel wheels that i think were factory on some of the 70's high-boys. gotta get those i think just in case. they must be 10in wide. all in all, a great day. told him i would be back when it dries out and maybe make a package deal. if someone is looking for the 22.5s or 17.5s let me know.

Hey Mark, Nice Finds! I love "Walkabouts"

I could be interested in 1 of the 22.5" 5 lug wheels, maybe both if ya don't want to separate them?? I just got 5 of them and will need a 6th, I haven't picked them up yet to verify the width on them but assuming they are the same width and or if it would even matter?

Thanks
Josh

ps. I might have a radio ****? but not sure if its the right one?? I'll see if I can find it and post a picture later...

Here's the pics. Once you've got them, Mark, please come back with the part numbers or at least measure the width of the 22.5s. The 17.5s will be 5.25" wide. Ken could use them. Remember guys, selling in the forums is verboten. Private messages would be in order.

Looking at the pic of the 17.5, it's got three hand holes. What kind of truck are those on Mark? They aren't a newer style on an oriental truck, are they? Stu

thanks for posting the pics Stu, and Im not tryin to get in trouble here, just trying to find out if there is any interest. i looked for a number on the 22.5s but they are on a steer axle in the bed of a pick-up and i couldnt get my head twisted around to see a number. the 17.5 were on the back of a 51 or 52 f5 i think. it looked like the rear axle had been switched out to the six lug. it had five lug WM on the front. pretty sure its a ford axle. didnt look cobbled together, looked like a bolt-in. i did find the # but didnt have any sand paper to get past the nice powder blue paint. its gonna be a couple weeks till i can get back out, so if someone is looking, shoot me a pm.

had to go back out and get those numbers Stu. the 22.5s are 71860 and the 17.5's are 79120. i got the radio bought, hope i didnt get the shaft on that. and what is a 8ft express bed worth? the fenders are not that great but the box is the best i have ever seen. straight and rust free. still has the wood in the bed.

The Budd #71860s are 22.5" x 6.00" wheels. They are approved for 9" tires. The Budd #79120 is 17.5" x 5.25". I've seen radios go for a lot more than you said. You did ok on it. On the bed I'll defer to others. Stu

I sold a 8' bed for 460 that was in great shape no wood and I broke it down for easier transport. I don't remember it that included the fenders. I don't think it did. What's a good tailgate for one worth? Mark, you inspired me to go check a yard I hadn't been to and boy what a great place! Lots of 5 lug 19.5 wheels and some others. No 22.5 though. Lots of 20" lockrings too! Stu needs an Easter road trip!

Grab the 19.5s. Somebody will want them.

I deferred on the bed because I sold one not long ago but had only my own value system to base price on. I asked less than you sold yours for Josh, included tail gate but no fenders, and the buyer had no shipping costs. He didn't get hurt. Stu

Some 5 lug 9x16 6.50 H-16 GY LT6 35 ? LTS or LT5 ? W. On an old power wagon.

Some 5 lug 7x17 lock rings 5" wide? GY 500 71W ? On old International.
Other misc 7-17 lockrings.

Some 6 lug 8-17.5 wheels.

Some 16 or 17" ? 6" wide? GYR 5517 LW. On and on

Stu you would be in heaven, he's willing to sell most things I think.

I didn't ask prices on anything except a stainless windshield trim from a 52 truck. He said $5 so maybe its an indicator! ??

There are at least 6-8 rv's and trucks with the 19.5" 5 lug wheels on them. I got lost and went in circles a couple times and am sure I still missed stuff, it is not organized and most of the cars/ trucks are crammed together and on top of each other so tight you can't walk between them, plus all the trash and wood, rusty nails sticking up everywhere, It was real challenging to even get up close enough to some of the wheels to see what they were.

They are NOt like a pic and pull type place as he's running some other industrial type business there in the middle of the mess, but he seemed really open to helping move stuff around to help me get some wheels, Must have been the Girl Scout Cookies I gave him!!!

Any idea what model IHC? The 5" is what I look for. I'd like to know more about these. Other misc 7-17 lockrings. Some 6 lug 8-17.5 wheels. I sure hope Ken is reading this thread. Two sources of 17.5s for his '54 MH. Some 16 or 17" ? 6" wide? GYR 5517 LW. That info was on the ring. Probably the wheels were on a Dodge or IHC. Between you and Mark, I could have one heck of a summer yard tour! Stu

This one I don't know??? it was just the chassis and it was upside down and had been in a fire! rubbber was mostly gone so don't know if those wheels would be ok or not??

I'm sorry I don't know model info on any of the other trucks as listed above, I got pictures of most of those wheels I can post in the morning but none of the trucks themselves. I will be going back next week and can get you that info or pictures etc if it helps.
pm sent.
Cheers

Josh
