Dark purple cps

I have recently put the new and improved dark purple cps in from IH. Anyone else run this? I am getting very bad milage, and wondering what everyone else is getting with it to see if its related. Thanks

I recently replaced the gray one in the F-450 with the dark one to see if the slight miss at idle would go away as reported by some. I couldn't believe the difference in how the truck runs now. Smooooth at idle and a little more pep. I've read where there can be issues with the light gray cps and cylinder #8. I still have the black one in the 01' Ex. I really haven't noticed much difference in mileage.

The 1876736c91 is for the 94-96 7.3L engines. It is also sold as Ford P/N F4TZ-12K073-C. Here a year ago or so it was supposed to be the "latest and greatest" one out there. I bought one and ran tests with it along with the OEM black one and the gray one. It did not impress me and has been in the glove-box since.

My truck had the lite grey CPS in when I bought it 3 years ago. I put the dark grey/purple CPS in last fall & I did notice a difference in how my truck Idled. According to the USPS tracking, today i'll be receiving a black CPS & my AE from Clay Maybe one of my 1st AE learning experiences will be running comparison test with all 3 CPS's ...

Ok maybe this is part of my milage problem. Got it scanned bank 1 cps error code. I made a more detailed post if you would like to take a look and offer any help. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post10130064

Maybe the new cps is killing my milage? Should I toss the grey one back in on next fill up?

I would, it is simple to do and may be the cause. Like mentioned above, the OEM black CPS is really what these trucks prefer. Riffraff Diesel sells them, but is running out per his last post about them. I noticed a big MPG change after running the dark blue one when I put in the OEM black one.

I know it, if the black one is so good why cant they make a new one to the same specs that fails slowly like the grey ones not at once like the black ones

I remember you did the testing on the different cps units. Which one are you running in your truck now?

I run the black one, have two spare black ones along with a gray and dark blue one in the glove box! I (knock on wood) have never had a failure, so as long as I have the tools and spares, I will always run them.

Would ya be willing to loan me a black one to try for a bit and see if that doesnt fix my milage problem? One code I for was bank 1 cps error. Why the cps I got would only cause a code for 1 side im not sure
