GVWR options

What are the physical differences in the various GVWR ratings / options on the 2011 F-350. I can see that there are at least 2 options from various window stickers I have found - 10,000# and 11,500#

I seem to remember that on the 250, the physical differences included a different hitch and gear/tire combo. I didn't realize there was a 350 with a 10k GVWR, though. I thought they were all 11.5k. I wonder what the differences between a 10k 250 and a 10k 350 are

I don't think there are any physical differences.. in some states over 10,000lbs is a commercial vehicle.. so 11,500 would be bad..

so, I think its just the sticker.

I ordered the 11,500k GVWR pkg and it didn't add any cost to the vehicle.

The difference is the door sticker...and a ticket if you are in some locales and they weigh the truck and you are over GVW. This has been a documented happening in some provinces of Canada and around the dunes in California...as reported on RVnet.

Otherwise it is a legal way to have a F350 truck without commercial plates in some states. I live in Michigan and they do not have that issue...yet

Regards

my pickup is a 350 and they gave me an option on the license to either license it for 10,000 or 12,500.

Here's a recent discussion we had covering the differences between the F250 and F350 and some of the GVWR issues for both, including the 10,000 LB GVWR option for the F350:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...the-250-a.html

States vary in the way they handle registration GVWRs over 10,000 LBS, so what works for one doesn't necessarily work for the other forty-nine.

Also going over the 10K GVWR in some states will disqualify you from protection under state lemon laws....
