mine was doing the same thing. mine is a 97 250, 4" lift, with the TTB axles in front. The axle pivot bushings and the shackle to frame bushing was completely worn out causing alignment to be off and tires to wear unevenly. it developed the death wooble suddenly. I just replaced all bushings on frontend and had it aligned. it still wobbled some, not as bad. i rotated the tires and it now drives like it did 14 years ago.
I had a loose front wheel bearing. Certain combinations of bump, wheel turned, and speed, and vehicle felt like it would shake off the road. Lots of feedback into the steering wheel, and I had to slow down, brake, and straighten out for it to to stop. Seems like the loose bearing had enough play that with the right tweak, the wheel would get off axis. I figure that braking tended to force the wheel back on axis. It wasn't fun when it happened.
I have seen a few pickups on the road where one front wheel was wobbling wildly, and the truck was slowing down and heading for the side.
I had the same problem with a 72 jeep. My front tires needed balancing once that was done it never happened again. Problem would just happen out of the blue then go away once I slowed down.
No my friends wont let me get a sober moment in since i got home wed. for spring break ,but its monday so i'll finally be able to pull it into the garage a start checking out the front end and if i cant find anything its going to schwabs.
