stalling in reverse...

i have a 2003 f250 5.4, 110k miles, 4x4, it first happened when i was in 4x4 low in reverse trying to work my way out of a rut in some snow, it would stall, then it went away, now every once in a while it will stall out in reverse while going slow or right after i shifted it into drive and go. i did just install new outdoor marine boat speakers in the bed of the truck, i shorted the fuse out but i replaced it. it hasn't happened again i just arced the hot battery side with the negative when i was crimping the negative wire in the back of the head unit. another thing i noticed when i turn the key on and wait 5-10 seconds there is a pretty loud "bbvvrr" noise like a bad fuel pump, but other than the stalling occasionally it runs fine...maybe its just starting to go? also my gas gauge doesnt work
