Coil sprung dana 44 into 86 F250???
I have an 86 f250. The ttb front end is pretty much toast, and I am considering a SAS. I don't have much money, so I am trying to find alternatives to a dana 60. I allready know 3/4 ton dana 44's from highboys and 77.5-79 wont fit because of the spring perches. So, I am wondering, if I was to put rip out all of my front suspension and start over by bolting in coil buckets and radius arm mounts onto my frame, how hard would it be to stick a coil sprung dana 44 in there out of a 70's f150??? I would also put 8 lug hubs on it so it matched my rearend....

F150 d44 has smaller axle tubes as well, so it's not quite as sturdy and prolly not something you'd want to use for much in the way of a working rig. But ( having two D60's lol) I don't think d44's suck as bad as everyone says they do. I'd say find a 78-79 d44 and reuse or buy new perches ($12.99 @ jegs) add a panhard bar, and go!!

i say do as small of a shackle reversal in front as you can while you do it as it will save you from having to worry about a track/panhard bar and will level out the old *** saggy spings in front.
blu, the way my money situation is looking i'll end up testing out my 8 lug d44 for a bit once my rig is together. have some bills that need paid now so the geared tons i was gonna buy won't happen for a bit. still gonna get the 40's. i hate money
i kept a ttb d44 alive for years with more power and 38's so i think i'll be ok, at least i hope.....

I myself am going to baby a D44 and 8.8 under my truck with (hopefully) an 88 efi 460 (if I eff it up, it's gettin dove heads off the 69 in the corner) and those 38's I mentioned in every other thread I've posted in lately

So all I have to do is get a 77.5-79 f250 d44, and move the perches out to 36.5, and she'll bolt in??? Will the "lowboy" f250's have 3" wide front springs??? and thanks for the help guys.

This doesn't make sense. A "later" d60 (85.5-96/7) will bolt right in, wont it?
