I just had my second set of BFG AT KOs mounted on my 08. I got 64k miles out of the first set with one rotation and no re balance. Never had a flat, used them from Padre Island to Pikes Peak and everywhere in between.

When I went to Discount Tire to get a new set, I asked them to order 6. that way I would take the four that balanced best. I would not accept a tire that had any side to side wobble or that required more than 3 oz of weight on any one side of the wheel.

They worked with me with great customer service. They were balanced right the first time. They let me watch and ask if the tire was acceptable before mounting it on the truck. My 285/65/20s (34.8") ride smooth all they way up to 80 MPH (the legal limit in a big chunk of this state )

You can't get that kind of service online. your going to get some marginal tires in the 35" territory. Best to buy where they're mounted so issues can be taken care of quickly.

This is my 5th set of BFGs (AT KOs that is) They are tough to beat. You gotta order extra tires of that size and get an experienced tech to mount them and you'll have no problems.

God, I love Junction, TX, just for that 80mph speed limit on I-10

I agree that you can't beat in-store service, but my one experience with Tire Rack convinced me that a lot of the experience is up to the installer. The guys in Lubbock I used were great to work with, and I'm pretty sure their manager would have gotten me two new tires if I had gotten upset with him about it (probably because they came out of his stock, just at the internet price, friggen weird right?). Local shops that have an online affiliation like that need to care more abut their local rep than making friends with someone in a cubicle in India, and that one online deal got another set of tires bought from that store locally.

I am sold on BFG Allterrains KO's. They are pricey but are great for my snow plowing and handles the weight of my cargo trailer with no problem.

Nitto terra grapplers in 325/70R17 35" ht 13.12"w E range tires.
I had a set of 295/70 R17 D range Nitto's that gave me 45,000 miles I just replaced them for 305/70 R17 E range. The truck came with Pirelli tires which were like driving on snot unless you were on a clean dry road. I have the truck realigned when I change tires and the alignment shop disposes of the old tires at no charge. I've bought both sets online.

What online dealer is good for tires/wheels?
Thanks ~Gage~
Gage,

Being an avid off-roader I've had quite o alot of dealings with Pro-Comp tires. Let me start off by saying I love them. For off road use I have had few better tires. I've had the X-Terrains and the Pro-Comp A/T's.

That being said, Pro-Comp tires are notoriously soft. My X-Terrains started chunking from off road use. The were OK on the road, but were slippery in the rain. The A/T's were slippery everywhere including off road. Didn't like them as much.

If you want a good "all around" tire, look at the Interco Trxxus STS. I have them on my Jeep and had them on my truck. Good road manners, not too slippery in the rain, and if aired down they will conquer just about anything. 4 guys in my Jeep club run the same tire on their rigs and all are satisfied.

I'm really impressed with the all around capabilities of these tires. I've had my truck in deep snow, dry snow, wet snow, snow with ice under it, wet sloppy pasture land, muddy trails, wet highways etc. etc. The only problem I've had is when I sank my 7500# truck up to its axles in mud on a hunting trail, but I almost got out on my own. I keep 65-70# of air in them which gives me a good combination of fuel mileage, quite comfortable ride and wear characteristics. I've had other manufacture's tires on other trucks and jeeps but I can't say any of them have had the all around ability these Nitto's have.
Truck is a 05 F-250 SD PSD extended cab 8' bed with stock suspension / no lift.

Hope this helps

Bshaw

3/4 and 1 ton tires

Check out the Nitto Crosstek brand, i ran into a lot of head ackes as the tire store were ripping me off by making me wait and then charging me a shipping cost for tire not rated for our trucks. Nitto make tires just for trucks than we own. http://nittocrosstek.com

Ya I found Nitto Trail Grappler M/T 35x1250x17 for $302 free shipping. I would like to stay in the $250-$350 range, if I can.
Thanks

No one mentioned Firestone Destination AT's, so I will...

Good tire, was good in all driving conditions, have worn well, good looking tread pattern for an AT, and you should be able to find 'em locally without a problem.

Well I went to Sears today to check out tires, I was there already to pick up an order so I just wanted to see what kind of tires that had. All they had was BF Goodrich All-Terrains 315/70/17 for $325 a piece. Sounds kinda high to me also they have to order them since they dont stock them. Then I went to a GoodYear dealer and was looking at the Goodyear DuraTrac tires, they wanted $260 for 315/70/17 sounds like a good price for them they look really good. But I haven't made up my mind yet. My current tires have about 26k on them so I just want to see whats out there.
