I have something om my 03 windshield. dont know what is for??

I just baught a 03 Superduty and I noticed the other day that above my rearview mirror on my windshield is a little box with a short antenna coming out the bottom of it. There is a button on the little box and when the key is off, there is a little red light that lights up. Does anyone else have this little black box? Could you tell me what its for?

Sounds like a receiver for a remote start and/or alarm.

Edit - just saw your comment about the button on the center of it. Strange. I thought it would've been related to what I wrote above but now I'm not sure. Is there any wires going into the headliner that you can follow?

Not sure if this is the same box your refering to, but my buddy has a simular box on his F150, I unplugged the wires going to it and his compass quit working.
Just throwing that out there.

There is a cord tucked above my headliner, I followed it down to behind the fuse panel underneath the dash. It goes into a black box. The wiring from the black box looks factory and has pigtails that plug into the back of the fuse panel. I though maybe it was a dealer option that maybe some of you guys also had. The button on the winshield doesnt seem to do anything.

It's a remote starter. look for some ser# or model# and order yourself a key fob. If it is Ford starter they are not cheap but if you live anywhere cold it's a nice option.

If you want to learn how to post pics, follow this link. I made a tutorial on how to post pics. Good luck.

remote start would be nice, but is doubtful. probably a 2way alarm. the buttons probly to set the fob with it, take it to an audio shop or dealer.(dont think theyll know).

My aftermarket remote start has an antenna thingy like you describe. I'm not sure if it has a button, but I've never needed to know. I got it installed at an audio store so that's the direction I would go if I were you.

I have a Cobra alarm/remote start. It has just what you describe. The red light blinks when it's armed and the button is used to put the alarm in valet and for programming user options.
