6 Volt temp sending unit after 12 volt conversion

Can I still use the original 6 volt temperature sender after a 12 conversion on stock guages? I think the answer is yes as long as the guage uses a 12V to 6V Runtz type reducer. Im I right? Thanks
Bob

Thanks Ross. A 12 V sender is expensive. I found a tech article on the Hamb to build Runtz type reducers for $3.

they are expensive for the 6v too lol, It would be nice if you guys would share a slight list of vendors you all use, LMC and denies carpenter have been good but Im always looking for a better deal. Any body know where I could get a coolant temp sensor for a 6V for under $50? also looking for a Fuel sending unit, and oil sending unit for the same truck?

There aren't a whole lot of people making these old style senders, and they aren't simple units like cheap aftermarket gauges. I just bought an oil pressure sender for my DD and it was $35.
