it's on both front springs. driver's side shown. note where is says DISCARD.

Well, that explains the tape that was on my front springs when I did the lift. My buddies were joking that Ford taped the leafs together. I'd tear em off, but they must not hurt anything if left on.

if im not mistaken those are there to prevent some kind of squeek er some other noise. hopefully a knowledgable person will come around here soon to correct me if im wrong.

Just to take a wild stab at it, I would say they are there for the shipping process, in a rail-car or on a trailer.

They are supposed to be there.Well,at least until someone takes delivery of the vehicle.

They are used for either the shipping (springs or whole vehicle),or the manufacturing process.

i also suspected something to do with shipping, but this being my first heavy-duty truck, i just thought i'd ask the 'experts'.

Those are supposed to be removed during the PDI but I've seen lots that weren't. That's kind of interesting because on the PDI sheet, which has to be filled out when the PDI is being done, you specifically have to check off that you removed the spacers
