Sorry for bringing this back up, but I just wanna say wow! Very interesting and usefull info here! Had no idea!

My 1990 7.3 (Canada) in Kilometers reads 568,796km (377k miles) mechanical speedo ofcourse, but I had no idea the digital odo's had 400k limits... that's plain stupid!

Wonder how high the Canadian speedos go to? Cause 400km ain't that much....especially for these trucks!

Anyone know if the 1992-1994 trucks are the same? Gas or Diesel?

Haha seems like i finally started a useful thread here lol. and Canadian models seem to do the same as ours so they are not immune haha sorry. are the 92-94 mechanical? cause if they are i would guess they measure into the 6 digits and dont rollover like our stupid odometers lol.

They started the digital odo's when the new model came out in 92 so I guess they are the same?

Hmmm, explains why I've never seen really high mileage IDI's of those years or any PowerStrokes of those years as well....

Theres a guy over on the van forum, think it's a 2000 or 2001 PowerStroke van, with a mechanical odo and he showed a pic of it, had 783,000 MILES!

Yea i would guess they would be the same then. Yea i think a page or two back somone said they went a mechanical odometer after the obs but then went back to digital in 02 or 03. whether or not they still roll back to 300k after they went back to digital idk, i hope they fixed it by then lol. Wow thats cool that its that high never seen that before.

yea thats kinda what i was thinking. i just figured that ford didnt expect these engines to last 400k without being rebuilt but idk all i can think is they were idiots back then with the odometer issue.

Wow you would think their would be some legality here in regards to Ford. Everything is based off mileage; inurance, loans, value, etc. It's like life insurance but you lie about your age to get more coverage and a better premium. Doubt anyone would get away with that.

Well my '95 only has 108k so I have quite sometime until I worry about my odometer role back.

Wow, this is an interesting thread! I have a ways to go yet, my 97 PSD only has 169K. Don't know if I'll remember to watch when it reaches 300K.

You'd think so, but the only thing that popped up searching this on google was this thread and another one on FTE. It seems like a quiet issue.

Yea you would think there would be more info on this. i came across something like this on another forum a bit before i started this one cause i didnt really believe it, kinda thought it was a fluke thing. but with so many people saying, yea it f-ing happens, i guess its true but know one knows y the f it happens. someone should get a hold of a ford technician and ask them WTH they were thinking back then.

I sent something to them and I'll post up the reply if they send one.

I was wondering if the digital odometer rollback issue on the 92-97 trucks was ever solved. I know multiple owners who have watched their odometers go from 399,999 to 300,000 instead of 400,000. There is even a discussion going on about it on Ford Truck Enthusiasts site. Here is the link to that page https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...r-at-400k.html

Please let us know what was done about this.

Thank You
