i posted the same question a while back. so they say there bad about doing this and its not worth trying to fix. the antilock brakes are not that good on our trucks, and someone said they covered theirs with black tape so they couldnt see the light burning. anyway, mines still on and has been for several months. love to know myself why

Mine has been on for 3 years, and I don't really care. I'm the one that put tape over the bulb. I actually caught it bleeding through the tape a tiny bit the other night, usually don't notice it. You can pull the bulb out too, but I figured its still there if I ever want to fix it.

Things to check, the speed sensor in the rear diff. The RABS unit which is on the driver's side frame rail near the front of the cab. There is a bleed valve on the unit, you can try bleeding it. Under the dash someplace is the RABS control unit. There is probably a fuse you can check.

The RABS valves are available, but its like $250-300, don't know about the control units. I'd rather spend that on something else so went for the 1 cent piece of tape so the light doesn't bother me.

mine was on all summer...then it mysteriously went off. the light still works however. it flashes when i hit the key. i wouldent worry about it. these trucks never really had ABS anyhow.

Rear differential slop is most likely the cause, this is common along with rear sensor. Some cases it's build up on the rear sensor (fillings) but rare.

most of the likely problems have been listed. A piece of tape is not the worst fix for it either.
However there is a diagnostic connector under the dash and it is possible to use it to get any trouble codes, which can help to pin point the problem.
However, as stated, the RABS is not very good anyway and may not be worth spending big $ on for a fix.

does any one have a pic of the ''rabs'' because I think this summer I took mine off. A block thing with brake lines running in and out of it with a plug? My brakes work as good as they did before

Yes, it is a "block" bolted to the inside of the left side frame rail about level with the drivers feet. Two hard brake lines and a short wiring pigtail to it.

Yes that must be what it is. last summer when the light was on my truck must have been angry. Ihen I spent money on it and fed it a lot of diesel and it must be happy now because the light stays off.

The ABS actuator is mounted to the drivers side frame rail near the front (front of drivers door). The rear ABS sensor is located toward the top of the rear axle on the pumpkin.
