TPMS Question?

I have a 2006 Expedition Limited. Right before I bought it the previous owner swapped the original wheels and tires with a set of 20" Ford factory wheels off of an F150.

I don't know any info on the F150, but based on the timing I think it would have probably been an '09 model.

I get a tire pressure monitor fault everytime I start the car. The dealers have told me that this is due to a change in the TPMS sensors between my '06 and the newer wheels. They have also told me that there is no way to disable this warning.

The tires and wheels are in great shape and look good, but I'd like to figure out a way around the warning. It occurs to me that it might be an issue when it comes time to sell or trade it in.

Anyone have any experience with this or know any details of the differences between the two systems/ I would consider replacing the sensors if I could make sure that I understood how to get the right ones for my truck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It sounds as if one or more of the wheels on the truck does not have the sensors mounted in them.
If they do have the sensors then they were not programed in to the trucks system.
Do a search for TPMS.

THERE IS NO GETTING AROUND THE WARNING!!!!
Get the sensors reset.

Thanks for the response. As I understand it all four wheels have the sensors in them, but they cannot be programmed to my truck because they are a different type (due to the difference in model years I guess?). I have heard of two styles, valve stems and ones that are banded to the wheel?. I'm not sure which style I have or should have.

I did some searching, but didn't find much info on model year wheel swap problem. I've been told basically the same thing by two different dealers, one offered to fix it for around $800 which I declined.

What shorebird linked are the correct ones. I just ordered one from that same guy last week. I will say I have not heard whether he has shipped it yet or not, guess I better check on that because oil change is coming soon and can not wait to get rid of that light on the dash. Dealer offered $250 to fix one for me. Thanks, Mike

I know this thread is a little old now but I finally got mine fixed (and got taken, but its fixed). I got the one from ebay but found out that it needed a $15 gasket kit to make it work and then they wanted $60 to install. Also they would not warranty it. They told me a new one was $120 plus $60. I got them to install and put new in for $120 (i know, still taken, and I used to be a tire guy). Even better is the phone call later saying two were out. Again - a $300 oil change - but no lights anymore. Humbly, Mike.
