I believe you have to send the turbo back to Garrett for them to rebuild it. Not a very popular endevor but thats the way it is. Why, got one your eye balling for a rebuild???

Shoot, didn't check out your sig.. Not sure with a ball bearing cartridge. If its the same with a journal bearing turbo the side to side has to be very minimal, where its not contacting the housing. No in and out play I believe also.

So then what's the life spand of a gtp38r? The h2e is made by holset right? Never heard of the other turbo. Both of these require different turbo pedistals correct.?

Unless you plan on bigger injectors, you don't need that much of a turbo. Why not get something like a mod'ed stocker or van turbo that's rebuildable? I can't complain about my van turbo, even though I torture it every day with too much fuel......

thats taking a step backwards imo........the stock h2e is right around the same specs as a 38r......

Thing is, I respect Clay alot and he's got alot of good things to say about the 38R... from what I can gather, as far as a drop-in goes, it's a fantastic turbo. But I've heard some really good things about the H2E. I'm not cheap, but I don't like to buy more than I really have to. I've actually really been considering a stock turbo with and ATS housing and a 1.15AR exhaust housing... I'd be able to rebuild it myself anyways.
