New Battery.... what should I get?

I'm not sure how old the battery is in my truck. It came with the truck. It's failed me a few times now, and I looking to get it replaced. What's a good brand to get? I've heard not-so-good things about the new Interstate batteries, which is what I was originally going to buy. Consider though, that this battery needs to be a good one for cold weather! Thanks guys!

Well, Motorcraft, Deka? Dekla? idk what that name is.. ^_^ I personally use Diehard North series and I have to say I LOVE IT! Right now it's below freezing and it starts right up without any hesitation at all, I can run my system lights and all my accesories while the truck is off in this weather, leave it for a few mins, and it still cranks up with no problem.

Alright. To clarify, cold to me is zero degrees and colder. Like tonight it is -15 F and it's supposed to get to -35 F. Thanks though Hotshot!

well you know that saying "you get what you pay for"? think about that when you go buy a battery, but then again it all depends, i have bought the wal-mart batteries and they have lasted for years, but also some have crapped out after a year or two, but if you spend the money and get the 3 yr free replacement its free if it goes out in that time frame, after that its pro-rated...

Maybe you should check this thread, it's pretty recent also:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...d-battery.html

It's apparent that the battery to get is the Motorcraft price/value/longevity wise.

Yes I do! I also have plenty of experience with wal-mart "Never-Start" batteries. My dad has 3 vehicles with those batteries. Every spring I get to take back at least two of the three to get them replaced. And the vehicles they are in are in good working condition.

There will never be a wal-mart battery in my trucks!

Wal-mart "never-ready". I hate 'em, but I got one in the 250 that I just bought. Seems okay. On the other hand...my crazy aunt Hallie didn't like the side post never-ready in the S-10 i bought her two months ago. A week after I gave her the truck she got a top post never-ready. Less than a month old and I had to replace it for her yesterday. Had a 12v surface charge, but NO cranking amps.

I've had a DieHard last 12 years once and I routinely get 9-11 years out of Auto Zone batteries. Except for that last one I bought! ;<

how about a Optima

ive used the red tops in all my trucks including the two in the diesel. i think they may have a cold weather one as well. i know they work good under alot of extream conditons ive put them through like under water or sitten for 6 to 9 months with out being touched and never failed me once.

depends how much money you want to spend. I second the optima vote.the one I am using now is eleven years old,has been in several vehicles, and the only time it has failed me is when the kids left the dome lights on all night.

The issue with batteries is that a brand/model that was great when purchased 3 years ago may have a replacement that is junk.
I have a battery from AUTOZONE in our hotrod 440 powered mopar that is still fine since replaced under warantee in 2002. A little used hotrod is hard on batteries, high compression hard to start engine after sitting for weeks and then barely run enough to get the battery charged. BUT I would not expect the same life from their current line of batteries.
Our F350/460 is running a group 27 battery from Walmart. Good or bad the batteries have a 3 year no questions asked replacement policy.
My current policy is to get the maximum capacity and the lowest price with the best warantee.
