Steering Locks On 1994 F150

I have a 94 F150 4WD and occasionally the steering will lock while driving but then come out of it. Sometimes before it locks, it feels really tight then it will lock. After it unlocks it feels normal again (like nothing ever happened) until the next episode. How can I tell if it's a bad gear box ?

Well I do seem to have a problem with the 4 wheel drive. It feels like it jerks going up hills in 4WD and when I turn the vehicle sharp in 4WD it feels like the the front wheels are out of round and wobble.

That sounds exactly like the problem I had. I would definately check your axle u joints they are under $10 and there are 3 of them. Give yourself about 3-4 hours if it's your first time doing it but well worth your time. Hope this helps if you have any questions feel free to E-mail me jimhardc@aol.com

U joints

I got the Duralast 2 yr warranty for $8.95 each for a front axle that is used very little anything more than a 2 yr warranty would be a waste of MY money.Purchased them at Autozone Although I am in Utah and Prices do vary
