Its a direct cylinder injected engine that has turbo chargers to increase the power. The direct injection is a major advancement for a gasoline engine, it hasnt been very common untill now.

Ecoboost, isn't really anything but a word.

But for Ford ''Ecoboost'' means Direct Injected and Twin TurboCharged. This setup was going to be called ''Twin Force'' If I recall correctly. But ''ECO''boost sounds better to the goverment greenies. This setup factually increase's power and torque output and theoretically is suppose to decrease fuel comsuption by about 5 to 20% over a similer ''non'' Ecoboosted engine.

But that's just my thoughts on it.

Thank you for your help and knowledge of the new v-6 ecoboost. Not sure as I'm only imagining that direct injection is the same as my DIT as far as how it may work.

Direct injection allows for more, multiple, precise injections of fuel directly into the combustion chamber. It really isn't very beneficial in non-boosted motors, but it is supposed to really kick @$$ in turbo and supercharged applications.

Direct injection has advantages for both naturally aspirated and forced induction engines. It allows for multiple fuel injection events in each combustion cycle, is used as a method to reduce in cylinder temps so compression ratios can be higher, and is useful in improving fuel economy. The ability to run higher compression ratios means more power whether you are running forced induction or natural aspiration.

Isn't one turbo tuned for lower rpm and the other for highter rpm boost?
