factory radio questions

My factory AM/FM/CD radio quit working. None of the buttons work. When I press the on **** the clock appears for a few seconds then fades away. No radio, CD, nothing. Any ideas?? I have a warranty that may replace it but I may consider an aftermarket unit. Thanks!

A broken radio is the perfect excuse to get a fancy awesome aftermarket receiver... Keep telling the wife or gf that anyway!

Check your fuses. Could have blown the switched power supply wire.
I second what Apsen said. New models are hitting stores now. I just received most of my new Pioneer line-up.

Yeah I do like being able to plug in a usb drive. Pioneer has a nice unit. The install kit looks kinda cheesy. I'm concerned with theft tho. No one wants a factory unit... lol

Get a Metra brand dash kit. Those are the best.
All Pioneer single din cd players have a detachable face.
The double din DVD players look real nice in there especially the AVHP3200.

I love when something like that breaks. Good excuse to upgrade.

Same problem with my radio. Bumps on the road will cause it to come on or go off. Still have control of clock settings. Power button will light up the dials but will not play radio or CD's. Sometimes it will be off for days and sometimes the radio will come on several times per day. Weird. I've checked fuses but maybe I should replace some fuses.

When upgrading to aftermarket stereo is there an adapter required to work with the stock Body Control Module?

I knew a girl that had her radio stolen out of her old Chev Beretta. Bad part was, the face was detached and not in the car. Some kids must have ripped it off just to be complete douchers.

Not to highjack, but I have the AM/FM/CD with satellite unit from my 2008 Screw I would let go very reasonably. I also have (4) Polk Audio 571(5x7) which also fit the truck. Let me know if interested.

Not sure what you mean.
There's a harness that plugs into the factory harness.
There's an adapter for most radios that will let you retain your steering wheel controls.

Are you referring to something else?

I don't have the radio controls on my steering wheel. But I just didn't know if the factory computers allowed aftermarket stereo's with out an adapter of sorts. These trucks have more computers than I'm used too so I just wanted to ask questions.

So I gather that I should be able to buy any aftermarket system with proper harness and can swap it out like usual? I've owned Ford trucks 1986, 1994, and 2002. I've upgraded the stereos in them with no problems. So this 2004 should be no problem right?

That is correct. No problem.

I take it you work at or own a mobile audio retailer?

I haven't seen one kit, including metra, that looked worth a crap in these pickups. Gaps in all of them. Maybe I'm just to picky...

Anyway, I pulled my 7200HD out of my Jeep when I sold it but since the kits look like crap I think I'm going to look for a double-DIN unit. Crutchfield seems to be "out of stock" of all the current Pioneer models..what's the scoop on the new models?

I installed a Kenwood DNX 5200 in my 2008 Screw and used the Metra kit. Everyone thinks the unit is a factory option. Even the matte finish matches the dash.

Oh yeah, double-din units look great in them. Single, not so much.
