FE Tower motor mounts
Did any FE trucks come with tower motor mounts instead of the single mount on the front of the engine. I'm going to have to move that mount, or switch to tower mounts when I convert my 65' F-250 4x4 to power steering. Any help would be appriciated. I have headers too so they might be in the way of the tower mounts. Unless I can change them.

Which engine do you have in the truck?

It was my understanding that in '68 only the motor pedestals were the same for manual and power steering since they used the smaller Bendix power steering box, where they used the larger Ford box in later year models.
However, back to the original post, I've never seen a rear-wheel drive vehicle that had a motor mount in the front. FWD vehicles yes, but not RWD.

and the manual box are the same length but the PS box is fatter so I still had to change the drivers side tower. You could find the MM towers in all 2wd trucks from 67 on up,I don't know what year before 67 they were introduced. They come out straight from the top of the frame to the engine and angle down to the cross member There should be 4 holes on the crossmember on each side and 4 holes on top of the frame where the crossmember is welded to the frame. This is on 2wd trucks.

I have a 73 f 100. It originally had a 240. I swapped in a 302. Then I went to a 390. At one point during the 390 swap I laid all 3 sets of motor stands side by side. The 302 stands were completely different. The 390 and 240 passenger side were exactly alike. The 390 and 240 deiver's side stand were almost the same. There is one tiny little bend half way between the motor mount hole and where the stand bolts to the frame on the 390 stand that the 240 stand did not have. It almost looks like a crease. I thought at first it might have been damaged, so I looked at other 390 stands and they were the same. The 240 and the 390 driver's side stand are close enough that I believe they would interchange. After I set my engine on the stands, I did not see any reasonfor the extra bend. A friend of mine has a 65 model truck that had an inline 6. He used 75 model 302 stands to bolt in a 289. I hope this helps. Fel free to e mail me with any further questions. By the way, swapping from a 302 to a 390 is the best idea I've had in awhile. The 390 makes gobs of torque that You just can't get from a 302, and in my oppinion, much more dependable. By the way, I have flow tech headers on my truck and they clear the side engine stands.
