1967 f-100 lightning

ok so here we go. i grew up aroung the movie fast and furious. (hondas). and growing up around that i eventually had a 540 hp 402 lbs tq, 1992 honda accord, fully built turbo. 29lbs of boost. however my brother in law came over in his lowered 454 swapped short bed c-10. i laughed...then he took me for a ride. i was done. i sold my dream car, and picked up the oldest ford i could find on craigs list. (not a chevy guy...)

heres the thing, i was so into hondas i have never looked at anything else.
i need help....

im wanting to do a 1967 ford f-100 / 2001 ford SVT lightning inspired.

(eventually i will swap for a 10lb wipple supercharged 5.4 lightning motor cammed and p&p, custom headers. )

what do i do first.???

Well the old Fords come apart pretty easy. Grab the donor motor/trans/electricals and probably the fuel tank, clear out the old motor in the engine bay and start making your new goodies fit.

Here is some additional related reading, you may want to jump in...

Do the CV swap it will make the 5.4 swap easier too.

But I would do a classic 390 with a STS turbo kit. The classic look that a mod motor doesn't have, and the forced induction that makes them really fast.

Add in some 3.00 gears and a C6 with a 2200 rpm stall with a 27-29 inch tire, and you be fast enough to annoy the big boys.

If you REALLY want to turbo and go fast and you have a fat wallet then you should check out NRE Nelson Racing Engines - Extreme Horsepower Twin Turbo Engines, Supercharged Engines, LSX Engines
Turbo kits are a crapshoot and generally involve unforseen issues.
Just a suggestion.

First thing you should do is buy a 67 F100.

Then you should check out this thread.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...o-67-f100.html

Actually, maybe check out the thread first.

check your frame!!

I'm currently doing a 1970 ford upgrade. One of the things I had to do up to get my truck squared away is some frame welding. Some of the crossmembers had some issues and it was a f-250 frame. Not a big problem but definelty need to look your situation over. On my 1977 ford with 500 hrspwr big block I had some frame issues with a f-150 frame. My cross members rivits came loose and cracked my frame at crossmember. since your talking supercharged things will come into play. I've had to upgrade my rivits to 1/2" bolts. Might need to upgrade to off road racing motor mounts. If you break a motor mount it usually breaks you tranny case or cracks it. Anymore questions drop a message and good luck and it will be a cool project. www.autofab.com is a cool website to check out and they do 67 ford offroad racing trucks also. talk to john lots of experience.

Yes, welding the crossmember is a good thing, and even adding a few gussets to them or more crossmembers is not bad idea if you go for big HP.

The 352 in your truck has a 8.5-1 compression ratio a slow acting cam, horrable log exhaust manifolds, and a stock distributer.

I would get a MSD or equivalent distributer.

4 barrell manifold and holley 650 mechanical secondary.

Flowtech headers routed into a single exhaust.

STS turbo kit Squires Turbo Systems - Universal

When you do the turbo buy a blow through set-up from a company similar to these guys Performance Carburetors - Custom Holley Carb Specialists

Trying to find a 5.4 from a Lightening is going to be hard, and you have a 352 which is the same block as any FE series motor out there. Best part is when you blow the motor build a 390 and it drops in place so easily.

why go with a 5.4, and not jump up to a V10? Then supercharge the V10, and it'll be rather torkalicious. Just an idear.
