Not sure I have the right name, but my '51 V8 Flathead, the crankcase is vented with a "road draft tube", which is a pipe that vents the crankcase to the outside. My pipe is really clogged up. Anyone have a good recommendation on how best to clean it.
You could take it off and blow some compressed air through it...hold a rag at the other end so that the goo doesn't go all over the place. You may need to soak it in some solvent first. Don't forget your safety glasses!!
Well, I have a Y-block so it may not be exactly the same, but on mine you take the "filter" off and there are two screws inside that attach the assembly to the block.
It sure makes it easier to look at the engine when it is on a stand...of course it is harder to drive the truck that way
It's a pressed fit into the intake manifold. Unbolt all the supports and grab it firmly and a little wiggling while lifting should have it off the engine in short order.
I use a product called Super Clean from nappa to clean off grease and oil. It will remove paint if used full strength. Also works great to clean the bbq grates and bottom. Where latex gloves because it will remove the oil from your hands
