7.3 needs more horsepower

I have a 1995 F350 CC Dually 4X4 PSD 5spd.
I am only looking for a 50 hp gain. I dont want to make a lot of mods mainly because, the budget and dont want truck down for that long. What is the best way to go? Thanks for the info.

Get a set of guages, 6637 intake, exhaust, and custom chip. It will be a whole new truck to you and will only be around a 60hp increase.

Custom tuners: Total Diesel Performance(Tony Wildman), DP-Tuner(Jody), Gearhead(Matt), Swamps, and Power Hungry Performance(Bill). All these guys are great tuners for the 7.3. You will only get about 60-80hp increase as long as you have your stock injectors so if you get a 120hp tune, it won't give you that although it may run stronger than a 60hp tune. Check them out once you have gotten guages and done the intake and exhaust.

how much do you think an intercooler would help?

an intercooler never hurts, but it helps more when you have larger injectors and such when the EGTs actually get hot. With stock injectors your EGTs shouldn't get hot enough to need an intercooler. In other words, the intercooler is a supporting modification. If you think you may want more power down the road(300+) then the intercooler will be a nice addition and an electric fuel system would also be a nice addition. You probably wouldn't notice any difference with an intercooler with stock injectors...

The intercooler won't give you more power usually. It'll keep you temps down which is always good, but you'll lose about 2psi of boost.
If you tow a lot I'd get a intercooler for sure though... Just running my truck empty with Stage I's makes me feel that I need a intercooler soon. If I take off hard from a stop I can hit 1200* EGT by the time I hit 60mph.

Evan, if I step on mine from a stop I'm at 1400* before 60mph... With the IC. LOL

I'm not in much of a hurry on the turbo. I've been driving the truck easy til I can get the F-150 on the road, then it's game on w/ some turbo and fuel action. I haven't even drag raced the truck since April. I should go make one run on the strip one night and take a pic of my pyro at the end for you when it's pegged out and won't come off for a few seconds after I'm slowing down.

I plan on a 3" down pipe, 4" exhaust, and a 6637 intake. I was thinking that was good for 40-50 hp right there.

Not sure how much power gain you'd get but it'll definately breathe better and spool quicker.

intake and exhaust definitely isn't worth 40-50hp.. I bet if you dyno the truck stock and leave the truck on the rollers while you change the intake and exhaust you might pick up 10hp... Maybe.. It's not a very big difference. Mainly just helps the truck breath better and you get a little more response. Spool time is less w/ the aftermarket downpipe too which is nice.

Oh ok. I had a friend give me a bully dog 60 hp chip or module of of his ol truck as well. So with that, the downpipe, 4" exhaust and intake what #'s to the ground would I be looking at? My E4OD is in need of a rebuild as well. Hopefully the extra hp won't fry the new one too quick as well. Was hoping a big trans cooler would extend the life of it.
