new 6.0 diesel owner

Hello my name is mike. I purchased an 06 f350 lariat dually cc 4x4 wit 210K miles. Just curious as to average mpgs is should/could be getting? Right now at 12.5-13. Also any pointers on mods I can do to help wit mpgs? Just mild ones and is cutting muffler off a bad thing with that motor?

Welcome to the forum Mike, glad to have you on board, Theres a great group of knowledgeable guys on here that love to help. I have a similar dually to yours and I was getting 13.5-14 when I first got my truck back in July, I had an injector going out on me and was still running on the original flash. I got the injector replaced and got the newest flash and my mpg jumped to 16 and is holding steady, my truck only has 119,000 miles on it though. Just my .02 cents

The flash is the program strategy that the truck runs on, just like your computer needs to be updated to be at its best, and I believe the 6.0 works better with the latest flash/strategy/program. Do you run a diesel fuel additive like Diesel Kleen?

Reflash it for better mpg?? that will not help the mpg.

But do try a fuel cleaner like Diesel Kleen from wallmart.

What oil do you use.

How do you take care of your truck (maintenance) and what work has been done to it?

Taking the muffler off is a good thing!!!! It helps the truck no matter how you use it.

Spend some time researching "egr delete" and "unplugging the egr valve".

Well for me it's free, brother works at ford, I'll have to ask him what the shop time for it is. It just takes a short time to do it. I bet less the 100 bucks.
