Interesting info Abe, I had never heard that before. Now that I think about it I did take a black painted arm off of a '56 door I have, similar to the one in your pic. Hey 56panelford, those really look nice, can you see out of them very well? Remotes on both sides? Very nice!

Abe, great information on the original style mirrors. My '54 had the west coast style mirrors on it when I got the truck. They were in bad shape.
I like the original style mirrors like you have if you are ever going to do some towing. It keeps an original style, but gives the option to adjust the mirrors to see when pulling a wider load. I remember using lots of those types of mirrors on old farm trucks when I was a kid. The worst ones had a round 6 inch diameter mirror. They were tough to judge distance etc. when backing up a truck.

If anyone else has an original mirror arm like the one in the pic I showed or the mirror head I would be interested if you want to get rid of them.
thanks!

These are the mirrors I made for my 56 panel, I made them from the mirrors from my old 95 Pontiac Grand Am, they're electric and made to fit in the original mounting location. There is more in my gallery 1956 Ford F100 4x2 - Mirrors I made if it interests you.

I have an orginal from a 53 if anybody is interested. Has about 5 layers of black paint on it, but should clean up pretty nice. $40

So in this thread, we have 2 different mirrors that are stated as being stock for 53; a round mirror and a square mirror. To further complicate things, I have mirrors that the PO told me were original to my 53 that look identical to the square mirrors above but are rectangular and have rubber around the outer edges (see images).
