Heater Bowl Replacement maybe?

Ok so like many of you i have blown fuse #22 and had a bad fuel bowl heater element i guess with a cut wire on the outside of the fuel bowl. But my question is what exactly is it that i have to replace? is it the entire fuel heater inside the bowl or just the electrical element that makes it run? Just wondering cause it might give me something to do over christmas break when im not in college where it get to -5 degrees.

You probably need one of these FUEL HEATER ELEMENT fits under the fuel filter. Aftermarket fuel filters tend to destroy these. I only use Motorcraft filters for this reason. The stand pipe will have to be removed to install the heater. It has LEFT HAND THREADS. One of these BrassCraft Steel Shower Valve Socket Set - T141 at The Home Depot works great for removing the stand pipe.

Don't get the stand pipe at the dealership. look for it online because of the price. Just saw a post for someone who got one for $14.00. Alot of people on here say you don't need the heater. One of them wrote you just have to solder the little heating element back on the plate deally. I replaced mine because i can get a little cold here in NW WI. It was kinda spendy because I bought the parts at the stealership. Remember like tbone said REVERSE THREADS on the stand pipe.

ok so im thinking i should play it safe and get the heating rod and the heater element that goes under the bowl. it doesnt sound to hard but i need to get it done. haha Iallwork and ken yea i know how cold it can get there. my dads from MI said the snow there made the snow we get here in southern oregon pretty weak. and lately its been anything but here thats kinda what prompted me to do this. the negative degrees are no fun for me or the pick up. thanks guys been a big help as usual, Blake.

Here's a link to the Super Duty Conversion. I have done two (2) of these and it really is a piece of cake. You really need to remove the fuel bowl because of the filings during the mod. International is the only place to buy the SD element, if I recall International gets about $40.00 and the dealer gets about $125.00. Big difference, that's why their called "Stealerships" . Once this mod is done you should NEVER have this problem again.
