Drive it to WalMart for a quart of oil or to the hardware store, no coverage.
Ross, I don't know who you checked with at Grundy but they do allow unlimited driving as long as you have a second vehicle. Even though I don't drive mine that much I didn't want to be limited to a certain number of miles...and that's the reason I went with them. I know there are mile limits with JC Taylor and some others but not with Grundy unless somehow it varies by location. Since my truck is parked in a garage from November until May due to the snow and salt maybe thay take that into account? I don't know...

When I first got my truck I looked into Haggerty, and almost went with them for $145 a year full coverage for $10K on the truck. I mentioned it to my State Farm agent and he said, "wait, I can beat that". Well, he did, I pay $101 a year for full coverage with Comp and Collision.

Unless you have their Daily Driver coverage, they only allow unlimited Hobby Mileage. If you are retired that makes it easier (no commute to work, one of their big concerns) Their DD coverage cost more than my Allstate when I checked, not unexpected because I only had the one vehicle (no discount for multiple), no homeowners, etc. The unlimited Hobby Mileage means you can drive cross-country in the Great Amerrican Race (a "hobby use"), but not 10 miles to commute to work.

There's another thread on the insurance question where this was discussed in detail, I just can't find it. I will likely go with Grundy or Hagerty this coming year, I won't be driving to work and am fed up with my new agent at Allstate.

Since I just turned 50 a couple months ago I think I'll check out Hartford through AARP. I could easily swing $250 a year. I'm not worried about unlimited milege. I bet I have not put 2000 miles on it in the last 34 years combined. And it is always stored in the shop.

Have all my stuff through Farmers. Never a bit of hassle on any claim. No milage limits ect. the '50 is insured for 25k. DOn't rem yearly cost off the top of my head. Think ferom 30k and up I have to have it appraised. I know I have to get the HD appraised to come anywhere near what I have in it. Need to get that done soon.

Insurance

The 48 F1 is not on the road yet but I have my 46 Ford Street Rod insurance through State Farm for a stated value of $30K. Only limit it can't be my daily driver and costs $130.00/yr.

I use National Corvette Museum because I could add the '55 to my Corvette policy. It's a stated value and actually is through American Modern Insurance.

I have Grundy for my 52 Panel and the 37 Airflow. Have been with them for several years. When I bought the 52, I shopped around many collector car insurance policies and found that Grundy has the best coverage and less restrictions. The price was also better than most.

I stayed away from the regular consumer insurance companies for several reasons. One, I have a daily commute vehicle. Two, if you get into an accident with your collector vehicle while it's insured through a regular consumer insurance company, your claim rep and damage appraiser won't know what to do because they're used to handling claims on Hondas and Toyotas.

Trust me, I know, I'm in the auto insurance claims business.

I just wanted to add a testimonial for "Grundy".

I recently scraped my fender backing out of my garage, not thinking That I would be covered for that. I got a local estimate for $1775 to repaint the drivers side front fender. That was a little more than I was prepared to pay at this time.

I decided to call My adjuster at Grundy to see if it might be covered. He told me No problem! that my deductible was $0.00

A representative was at my house the next day to appraise it. They told me I could take it anywhere I wanted to be repainted, and I chose Bobco in Lake elsinore after checking to see if he was interested.

I got my truck back yesterday, and it is pristine! wonderful job by Bobco and he dealt with Insurance appraiser

Whole thing was about two weeks start to finish.

I love my Grundy insurance!
