Well there are lots of factors, THE ONLY reason I would by a truck with that much gear whould be if I was towing upwards of 30k lbs. My 6.4 3/4 ton pulled a 22k 4 axel for 900 miles across Texas and she did it without a hitch and thats with 3.73's I avg over the whole trip 9 mpg's. That was with 2 400lb motorcyles in the bed as well which all combined is f'n heavy for a 3.73 rear truck but she did it but burned lots of fuel cause the trailer full loaded by itself no **** weighed in at a little over 22k lbs! I would say if you cruise at 60-65 without lead footin it you should be able to get 15 or 16 on the highway mabe.

I'm no expert on the dually but I think you'd be VERY lucky to get 15 unloaded, especially with that gearing. I'm sure others with similar trucks will chime in but I would say you can expect 12-14 unloaded, as for towing it would depend on what you are towing but expect to see 7-10. I know that's a wide range but that seems to be the general #'s that most guys post. And of course you are buying a 9000lb dually so I'm sure you aren't expecting 25MPG. My advice is to buy the truck if you need it and are towing heavy loads and if not then you might want to consider a SRW with taller gears. Good Luck

I have to be VERY light on the pedal and empty I am barely able to SQUEEZE 13 to 14 mpg out of my 2008 F350 CC DRW with the 4.30. If you hotrod or go above 70 on the highway you will get 11 mpg. City driving kills the mpgs because these trucks are so heavy.
The good news is that when you are towing heavy the 6.4's are only about 1 to 1.5 mpg off of the 6.0's mpg. I pull around 17K to 18K on a regular basis with the truck mentioned above and get 8 to 9 mpg.
I love my truck but great fuel mileage is a pipe dream.

I think Sdetweil has your same setup as well. I think he sees around 14 on the hwy, 11-12 in the city.
Truthfully these are not city trucks. Too much city driving and you will wish for something smaller.

why would you buy a diesel dually work truck with 4:30's if your just going to drive it around empty anyway?
anyway,id plan on a good average of 10mpg at best with the 6.4l setup like this.
(don't be fooled by "highway peaks" unless that's where your drive all the time.)
if your looking for a truck to drive around like a car,i would skip the dually and look for a truck with higher gear ratio as well.you'll save yourself a boat load of cash in fuel if your main speed is 50 mph or higher.
don't forget there is more expense than just fuel with a diesel.
(yes i have plenty of first hand experience with the 6.4l.they are THIRSTY! and the duals eats 1-1.5 mpg's on top of it.-this doesn't hurt a work truck, because it = less trips and more than offsets the mpgs in work hours saved.)

I have a 2010 F350 4X4 DRW with 3.73s. I am getting around 8-9 pulling a 14k 40ft 5er on the interstates and about 10.5 in the mountains. I have not had the truck out unloaded on the highways/interstates yet. I have around 7k on the truck now. I agree, you should have joined earlier! . These guys helped me long before I pulled the trigger on my F350. I just have to remember, I bought the truck to pull so I don't get that frustrated with the mileage! Good luck.

Geez, ya think? I mean what the heck you were only over your rating by about 7000 lbs or so. If you could, keep me posted on your towing schedule and whereabouts, I'd kinda like to avoid the area with my family. I don't consider myself a gram weenie, but come on....
(flame suit on I would imagine)....
