new clutch noise?

besides the annoying smf rattle... under decent load, say...1500rpms and taking off not hot but acceling harder than usual, it kind of...squeals? kind of wines.. it wont ddo it if you purposly slip the clutch when driving either, seams like a second gear thing because its just enough of a load on the clutch. do i need to give valair a buzz?

I don't think its your clutch. I think its your gear box buddy.

When you feather the clutch, you are reducing strain on the gear box.

and if it only does it in second gear....

I know you do burnouts and such, and while burnouts are cool, and our trucks can handle them, it isn't necessarily easy on them, especially the gear box, which is the weak link besides the drive shaft.
nothing is bulletproof.

but thats just my thoughts.
I highly doubt its your clutch if it only does it in second gear. There is nothing in the clutch itself to make noise if it is closed unless its broke, then it will do it all the time.

is it a light squeeling noise when your letting off the clutch I'm guessing? The ceramic pads on the clutch can make a light squeeling noise and it's nothing to worry about. My kevlar/ceramic did it and it was a little louder when you were letting off the clutch at a bit higher RPMs like 1500 and still slipping it slightly to take off up a hill or something.

So, if thats what your hearing... It's fine. It's just the ceramic pucks making a little noise.

travis you nailed it, it hasn't gotten worse, it definitely sounded like a load problem, and the hefty ceramic i figured was making some noise. thanks!

nah it a heavy load problem when seemly freezing temperatures and i only have 2k or just about on this poor clutch not much, the ceramic side is rather beefy and real hard so i figure its that on the fly wheel causing some heat. hell if it dies then i call up dan and see what he can do for me or just go bigger heheh

Ceramic is really low heat material.

While it will create heat, it's a low heat material.

You'll have to slip it while the pressure plate is full on to create any heat with it.
And the kevlar... yeah, that **** is tough.

Dan's told me he has re-done kev/ceramic clutches and the kevlar looks like new and the ceramic is worn out.

I never had any of this with my clutch with any load, so I cannot relate to the sounds. But, If you want to think of it in terms of brakes.
I've had plenty of ceramic brakes make funny noises like that while braking. So It makes sense.

Sorry for my anti Trans thing.
But, I've had a trans go bad, and... well, it makes some strange noises just like you described.
