What year does the 351w come with roller hyd lifters?
hey guys, im trying to figure out which block to start with for a project. From looking around on the internet i think the 94 to 96 351 come with the hyd roller lifters but im not sure. I want to buy a stroker 393cu kit and convert this this motor to carburator and put it in my bronco. any info on these 351 would be great. thanx

Well you can start by checking for the F4TE cylinder case casting number. That will confirm that it is "roller ready", i.e. has the taller lifter bores and bosses to hold roller hardware.
To see if those parts are actually installed, I suppose you will have to actually look inside the engine. With the aid of a bright pinpoint flashlight you can remove a valve cover, and shine light down a pushrod hole to look for the yoke around the lifter, characteristic of roller setups.

You may be able to pull off a valve cover and look down into the block where the pushrods are. If it has a roller cam, you might be able to see the dogbones and spider with a flashlight.
As long as you have the F4TE block, you can use the factory roller lifters, spider and dogbones from any 5.0 truck or mustang.

I didn't say that it dictated, In my experience that's the easiest way to know. If it has mass air, it came with a roller block.
The lifters, cam, and dogbones will work on a 351, the pushrods, dogbone retainer will not work from a 5.0
