hid conversion kit
im wanting to get hid's for my truck. i got on here and looked through the threads already posted. i know alot of people on here dont like them and all that. im looking at the ebay kit White 9007 6000K Hi/Lo Beam Xenon HID Conversion Kit: eBay Motors (item 310265252169 end time Nov-01-10 18:44:24 PDT)
what color do you guys recomend i get between 5k, 6k, and 8k?
also my main concern about these is how well they hold up. are these going to run hotter than normal halogen bulbs? my wiring isnt going to burn in half or nothing is it?
also it says some vehicles may need a hid canceller capacitor? is our trucks one of those? mines a 95 f150.
my bulb size is 9007 correct?
any other suggestions from people as far as kits or colors?

Damn HIDs are getting cheap now!
I paid $80 for each kit on my truck..
Anyways... Buy from DDMtuning.
Colors.. Well it depends on what you want. Just see what you like. I have 8k headlights and foglights. Either 6k or 8k for a little bit of blue.
DDM HIDs will hold up great. They have a good warranty with them also.
No your wiring is fine. Ive been running mine for almost 2 years now. Plug and play.
Yes 9007 is correct.

I have an HID 9007-4 conversion kit. The 9007-4 kit has two bulbs with two arc tubes each, so there are 4 ballasts.
The pros: They focus well. They aim well and I have accurate high and low beams after re-aiming them.
The cons: They have to warm up when switching from high/low and low/high
I had a kit like that in my '88 t bird (a 9007-2 setup: the bulbs move in and out for high/low) and I never did anything but run the high beams after aiming the headlights. I'm assuming the truck headlight housings would act similar since they're designed for the same bulbs, but in my T-bird, the HID kit would shift the beam left to right rather than up and down. Most of the 9007-2 kits I've seen are also 9004 compatible.

As you can see, while the bulbs are similar, they are not the same. An HID kit designed to work in both isn't going to work correctly in either.
My advice would to be save up, get a set of clear headlights, and do a projector conversion. That is my plan. While I'm not thrilled with what I imagine the projectors will look like on this style of truck, I'm looking for the performance aspect of projectors.
In the same thought, I also voted for 5000k lights. I have 6000 in my truck now and I had 4300 in my T-bird, and I liked the 4300 a lot more. If you look at the output details, the 4300-5000k lights always have the highest lumen output. The higher K lights go down from there. Also, with the 4300k lights, I wasn't getting flashed all the time, and I am annoyed when I see other people with the blue lights coming at me.
To each his own though. Hope you get the advice you're looking for.

I'm not sure what the stock wattage on these trucks are but 35w seems a little low. The ballast aren't very big so if it is cheaper you could fit regular ballasts just as easily. I run 5000k in all of our off road toys but have not done it to my truck yet so I am not alot of help, but they do have the whitest light output offered and imo are the brightest.

Im never blinded by HIDs its the stupid lifted trucks with the owners that don't re aim the headlights...
Sure everyone has seen mine but I like posting pics.. lol
I just put some DDM 6k HIDs on my grandparents 07 tahoe because they would never drive at night cause they couldn't see good. Well They said they made an amazing difference and they can see great now.

[quote=AlaskanEx;9556479]i have 8000ks in my '91 but for some reason in this pic they look really blue. they arent that blue normaly. best lighting upgrade you can do by far, i run HIDs in every truck i own. once you aim them correctly you will have no issues with blinding anyone.
Drivers in Texas can't get it right because i get blinded from people behind me and comming from in front, ticks me off
