Anyone heard of a transmission sensor problem

Today I ran into a person I use to work with and was informed he had bought almost the same truck as mine. He also informed me that his has spent most of the winter in the shop. Reason being he claimed the transmission had a sensor that malfunctioned when it's cold out. This sensor lets the truck turn over but it blocks the truck from starting. Now it has got to 10 below zero only once this winter so far, my truck is kept outside, no problem yet. Just curious if any have experienced this. I did a search on this and found nothing.

Never heard of that specific problem. A lot of the newer transmission have a lot of electronically controlled parts like solenoids. Unless a solenoid or something went and is not allowing the trucks shift point to register with the transmission , then I could see that as a possibility. I think it depends on what transmission it is they type of truck and how and what signals the transmission receives from the truck when shifting into gear and how that is triggered in the transmission

There is no transmission sensor that can do that. There is one that can keep it from turning over. That's the TRS (Transmission Range Sensor,) also known as the Neutral Safety Switch.
