Road Trip

It looks like we're going to throw in the towel here in the arctic tundra north and head back to Southern California. Packing up the seriously beat up travel trailer, the Escape, the PSD, birds, cats, dog, wife and getting out while the getting is good (before it snows). Going to head from Ottawa as near south as possible before heading west. Mostly it will be on the 81 and then the 40. Hopefully there won't be any emergency postings via the phone...At least I got my glow plug relay fixed. Found out it was dead last year when we moved in the opposite direction.

Looks like I get to do my water pump before we go. Kinda forgot about it leaking from the weep hole quite a while ago, and now it is full blown squeaking.

I'm going to be so happy once we hit the 40 and just cruise.

It's all about the employment thing...If I get a call next week saying come work for us, then we stay put and work. I just have a lot more contacts, and daily living is cheaper back in cal. I'm really not a fan of packing and moving, at least we are still mostly packed from last year's move.

You got it Waljon! I've got to get my ice boat up to snuff and my old beater sled tuned up. Soon enough.
I totally understand about the employment thing. I'm lucky my job is stable right now. Couple years down the road? Who knows. Go where the work is.
What kinda work do you do???

It usually falls in the telecom area, but really it's all network engineering. Ottawa seems afraid of the (not-so) new technology of VoIP. If there are ads, they want super senior mega degree people. All theory I guess. 5 years experience doesn't seem to count for much here. I'm guessing our next foray will be somewhere less stodgy, but we were here to be close to the fam.

Yeah, there's less call for that out here than there was in ottawa I'm sure. Likely have a better chance in socal for sure. Keep us updated on the whole adventure.
