i put my cap on,
installed a 2nd throttle return spring since my "custom" 1985/1969 throttle bracket isnt perfect,(wasnt coming to idle 100% of the time ) put my chrome air cleaner back on since the new manual choke was hitting on it (the stock 69 one... auto lite 2100 356 cfm... runs real good with that little carb too).
dumped some dry gas in too
filler her with super too
lubed carb linkage

I finished putting a rear brake line in and went to bleed the air out of the wheel cylinders and found rt wheel cyl full of dry rust powder, left brake drum has a split that goes about 1/4 way around it. I'm going to have to save up and do all new rear brakes, drums, axle seals, and exhaust. If it isn't one truck then it's the other. I just did upper and lower ball joints, new windshield, 4 tires, and an alignment on my Durango so it would pass inspection!

Looking good Fordzilla!
I just replaced the A-pillar trim and the interior trim around the windshield on the '81 today. I managed to crack my damn dash pad in the process of pulling it out of the truck. Not a happy camper about that but at least I have more laying around.

Sucks to hear about the dash pad. I hate when that happens.

This man has welded more coal truck frames than the factory,he told me he would plate it if I wanted but the type of weld he used it was stronger where he welded it than the rest of the frame. Its stiched inside and out starting at the bottom going up.A coal truck hauls 45 ton and he said he didnt plate them!..........Coldsteel

I am not saying that this guy doesn't know what he is doing, I just hope he is bonded and insured.

Man this weld is super strong,he used a wire feed mig gun one with the spool built into the gun a $1200.00 piece.A man that dont know what he is doing wouldnt put that kind of money in his welding rig!!Like I sad he started at the bottom of the frame stiching it bottom up.Ask any welder you know he will tell you how strong this type of bead is.As i stated this man has welded probably over 100 Coal Truck frames he told me he dont plate them and welds them the same way these trucks haul 45 ton a load,Im no welder and had the same complaint about the plate the welder told me he would plate it if I wanted but he would guarentee that the frame didnt need it!!!This is a nice bead he used a gas mig not a stick!!!!!!.......Coldsteel
I am in no way a welder, what so ever. For some reason that doesn't look like a clean weld to me. I think I would have used a grinder from every angle so I would have a clean steel surface to work with, and get the cleanest possible weld. (I used to be in the soldering business).

Man dont let the naysayers keep ya from doing your truck this way.Its very important though that the man welding it knows his stuff.Let the guy doing the cutting and welding make the decisions as to where to cut and all that crap.I cant weld and im not gonna tell a man that welds for a LIVING how to do his job!!!This will work ill be $1000.00 to $10.00 that's how sure I am about mine!!!.....Coldsteel
