Don’t Jump to Conclusions About the Torn F-150 Aluminum Bed
Writing for a site about Ford and their trucks means that people often share Ford-related stuff with me. One of the things that has come across my virtual desk in the past day or so has been this picture of a 2015 Ford F-150 with a torn aluminum bed. Of course, it comes without any context, which is why we should not jump to conclusions and take it with a grain of salt.
Assuming the picture hasn’t been doctored in any way, we can obviously see that this truck was damaged in way I know I personally haven’t seen before. Regardless of how the truck is damaged, it must’ve taken some serious force to get the aluminum tear like that.
So we don’t know what type of accident caused this damage. Since we don’t know that, we also don’t know what kind of damage a steel truck would receive in a similar accident situation. If, in a similar accident, the steel bed would also have to be replaced, then it really wouldn’t matter what the damage looked like if the ultimate repair was the same.
Don’t forget, first and foremost vehicles are designed to protect the occupants in the cab or cabin. Everything else is secondary. Hopefully over the next couple of days we’ll hear more about what caused the damage in this photo and be able to draw a more accurate conclusion about what happened.
But until then, don’t believe everything you see or read on the Internet.
