2011 Ford Super Duty Diesel Overview

By -

Aficionados of Ford truck diesel vehicles can look forward to a new edition in 2011 that has a number of changes incorporated into the super duty truck models. The 2011 Ford Super Duty truck is slated for release in April, 2011 and is considered to be the most fuel-efficient truck manufactured so far.

Specs of the 2011 Ford Super Duty Diesel Truck

The 2011 Ford Super Duty model is powered by a 6.7 liter Power Stroke V-8 diesel engine that is capable of delivering 390 hp at 2,800 rpm and a torque of 735 ft-lb at 1,600 rpm. The truck has a towing capacity of 24,400 pounds and a payload capacity of 6,520 pounds. It has biodiesel compatibility up to B20. Ford has used graphite iron in the engine block structure. Graphite iron is considered to be stronger than cast iron and has less weight thus enabling the truck to tow heavy weights while using less fuel. There is a smaller exhaust system surface area that helps lessen the noise and vibrations produced by the engine. Besides this, the cylinder heads are made of aluminum and help reduce the engine’s weight. The high pressure direct injection system sends fuel at a force of 29,000 psi directly into the combustion chambers. This helps increase fuel economy and power while reducing the noise that’s produced.

Changes from Previous Models

Since the new engine and deep skirted block couldn’t fit under the old hood, the 2011 Super Duty has a taller clam shaped hood with a huge grill. This hood is accompanied by new and bigger fenders and light assemblies. The 2011 model’s wheels are 20 inches and not 17 inches as in older versions of the truck.

Features of the 2011 Super Duty

The truck has features such as an anti-lock braking system, rollover stability control, power steering, an 81.8 feet cargo box, telescopic mirrors, hill start assist, hill descent control, an off road mode with the advantage of an electronic locking axle, telescoping steering wheel and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Reviews

Customers agree that the diesel version of the truck is a very welcome addition to the Ford lineup. The high amount of horsepower and torque delivered by the engine help make the truck very efficient in fuel consumption. Some reviews state that the engine should be able to deliver more horsepower. Most agree that there is very little scope for improvement. The expected price of $28,995 is very attractive and many reviewers feel that Ford is not looking for a hefty profit with this model. The easy handling, comfortable ride and super-quite engine are features that can make driving this truck a joy.

The 2011 Ford Super Duty Diesel truck is slated to raise the standard. It is a reliable and strong truck that has a clean and green engine, enhanced engine performance and improved towing and payload capacity. In addition, the truck looks stylish and can be safely driven both in the city, on dirt roads and in the snow.
