Different Kind of Find

It isn't unusual to find posts here in the Ford Truck Enthusiast forums where members are looking to buy a pickup but are seeking advice from others on whether or not it's a good idea. But in the case of kmac8401 and this old 1950 Ford F1, the circumstances that led to its discovery are, well, a little different.

Good and Bad

Kmac8401 was pretty amazed to find out that this old Ford has only 40k original miles on it, which he verified with the previous owner. But the fact that it's been sitting on the property since that gentleman passed away means that it's not exactly a gem.

Mostly Rot Free

The good news is, this old Ford doesn't have any visible body damage or terrible rot. It is, of course, covered in copious amounts of surface rust. The only bad rot Kmac8401 could find was in the floorboards, and even the frame appears to be rather solid.

Worth It or Not?

Kmac8401 goal with this truck is to rebuild it slowly with his son, but he wants to make sure he isn't jumping into some endless money pit first. And you certainly can't blame him there.

Moving Forward

As you might imagine,Kmac8401's fellow members believe this '50 F1 is a great candidate for a restoration. Including abe, who said "Yes, definitely worth it if it is as you say. And welcome to FTE, the best Ford truck forum on the world wide web! The first thing I would do and maybe you have is get it out of that mud. The second thing would be to power wash the moss off of it."

First Things First

Others, including 52 Merc, caution against making a final decision before the OP is able to get a better look. "Clean that old truck up and see what you've got. Before getting in too deep, be sure you can get a title for it. The folks at WSP are not the friendliest of sorts to work with on these things. Get it done before taking anything apart."

Opinions Wanted

So far, it sounds like Kmac8401 is leaning toward saving this old Ford. But we want to know what you think. So head over here and tell us (and him) if you think this F1 is worth wrenching on, or if you'd pass on the project!
