Leisure in utility.

Camping is a perfect way to make the most of the outdoors. Similarly, a Ford truck can help make the most of a camping trick. You do the math; there's a wide world out there to explore, and a Ford pickup can be the best friend you've ever had if you choose to take a trip out beyond city-limits to who-knows-where.

Camping provides a chance to witness the F-Series' impressive might in action. To be fair, some owners may not see their truck's towing capabilities except in the recreational context, whether tugging a boat to the lake or a trailer into the woods. In a word, an F-Series brings the fun because, first and foremost, it's practical.

Perfect for the offroad.

Ford's 4x4 and enhanced FX4 variants are everything a prospective camper could hope for from a set of wheels. This much is true: an F-Series will get you where you want to go-- wherever that may be. For someone camping in a sedan or subcompact car, the more daring possibilities are limited. A basic F-150 is usually enough to traverse most of the harsher backroads you'll come across. It's a boon that comes at no cost to their shining urban appeal.

An all-inclusive mobile headquarters.

We wonder: is there anything an F-Series can't do? It can get you across tough terrain to your campsite with no sweat, but that's just the start. While some campers like to do without the easy comforts afforded by technology, an F-Series has got its owner covered as a one-stop "home away from home"-- that is, at least until the tent is set up. Even then, however, many owners still gravitate to the truck bed as a hub of their campsite. You can have a great time sitting in the back for some nice elevation.

There's a vast selection of Ford camp accessories.

Being the world's best-selling truck for some-odd decades' worth and counting comes with its benefits.  Not least of all is the hefty array of Ford-oriented accessories available to purchase. Considering how camping is probably one of the ten most-cited uses for pickup trucks, it goes without saying that Fordsters with a taste for the outdoors won't find themselves in a dearth of options. Even a quick glance through an online catalog like this one makes this much clear. Although a lot of pickup accessories are designed to be applicable across brands, when you purchase a product specific to your truck model, you can go in knowing there won't be any incompatibilities between it and your vehicle.

You'll be able to skip the generator soon.

The F-Series has already made a habit of ensuring its owners are covered for portable power. However, a regular old gas engine isn't going to be the sort of thing you want to tax by plugging things in. Especially if you're camping far enough out where you won't be able to rely on a good Samaritan to jump your battery.

On a related note, Ford is making a push towards realizing a mass-market hybrid powertrain for the 2020 F-150. This will be a significant upgrade to the truck's function as a mobile powerhouse. Ford is actually making the point of "portable power" a focus in marketing this green take on the F-Series; your typical F-150 owner will be a hard sell for lean tech like a hybrid.  It's power and practicality they're looking for. Well, using your truck as a stand-in generator checks off both.

There's comfort when it counts.

Well, for starters, it would be fair to say that no one likes to be uncomfortable. Comfort is nigh-universally agreed upon as a preferable alternative. It's interesting then that camping is such a popular pastime, considering that it's a willful escape from regular comfort for something different. Nonetheless, campers are going to want to feel comfy on the way there and back-- especially on the way back. It would feel twice as bad being cooped up in a small passenger car if you've spent the past weekend out in the open woods. With the spacious cabin space afforded by even the basic F-Series models in recent years, the trip back may give campers the rest they thought they'd wait 'til home for.
