It seems like Matthew McConaughey's name has been involved with automobiles more and more lately since his Lincoln commercials. In the HBO series True Detective. he had a cool old Ford truck, which recently was put up for sale. How much is this piece of Ford pop culture history worth? Read on.
1. True Detective season 1
If you're wondering where you've seen this Ford truck before, it belonged to Matthew McConaughey's character, "Rust Cohle" on season one of the HBO show True Detective. The Rustin "Rust" Cohle was an extremely troubled homicide detective in Louisiana, who investigated a sequence of brutal murders.

2. McConaughey's Best
Matthew McConaughey's work on True Detective has received more critical acclaim than just about anything he was done. He won the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series, and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor, as well as a nomination for a Primetime Emmy in the Outstanding Lead Actor category. In other words, people agree he did a rather good job as Rust Cohle.

3. The Ford Truck
Since you can'y buy a Golden Globe, or Matthew McConaughey, let's talk about the truck. The star under the lights this time is a manual transmission 1997 Ford F250 XL Heavy Duty. The red pickup truck has 153,345 miles on it, and is certainly not a fully restored truck. In fact, it is in fair to good condition, but it is solid and mechanically sound, plus it is a TV star.

4. Charity Buzz
If you're a Matthew McConaughey, or True Detective fan, then you'll likely be extra keen on this modern classic Ford truck. Charity Buzz auctioned the truck, with the proceeds going to the Just Keep Living Foundation which was created by McConaughey to the health and well being of teenagers and youths. Bidding was accepted online until April, 20th, before going to a live charity auction event.

5. Current Bid
On Kelly Blue Book, a similar F-250 truck is worth approximately $3,500, but you're not buying it from your next door neighbor, so expect to spend thousands over the normal value of the truck. The last bid for Rust Cohle's Ford truck before the live event was $11,500, and the final bid should be approximately $15,000. We will update as soon as we get news of the true selling price.
