Post-Apocalyptic Rig

Regular old trucks are great and all. They comfortably and reliably transport us everywhere we need to go, haul our families, and tow whatever loads we throw at them. But for some folks, the act of simply driving somewhere is a little more complicated. Maybe they live in the middle of a war zone. Maybe they're famous, super-rich, and have reason to fear kidnapping attempts. Or maybe they're just paranoid doomsday preppers. For those people, we've found just the right truck - the USSV Rhino GX!

It's The Little Things

These massive, badass rigs are rebodied Ford F-450 trucks that are obviously bulletproof, for starters. In fact, the U.S. Specialty Vehicles Rhino GX is certified all the way up to B6-level gunfire resistance. But to get there, it sure takes a lot of bodywork. Only the stock firewall, A and B-pillars, and frame are retained, though heavily modified. The rest is built from a combination of hand-worked and composite steel. Heck, there are even foot indentations and hand-holds built in so your bodyguards can hang on and return fire!

Rolling on Something Special

In spite of all that obviously heavy bodywork, the front suspension remains largely stock, with only a set of adjustable Bilstein shocks added. The rear suspension, however, is a completely different story. A LiquidSpring CLASS (Compressible Liquid Active Suspension System) setup replaces the factory leaf springs, and the axle uses upper and lower radius rods and a lateral link. Hydraulic springs and dampers allow for load-leveling capability, as well as three different ride-height settings.

Fit for a King (Of a Nation at War)

As you might imagine, the inside of the USSV Rhino GX is something truly special. The front seats get new, fancier foam and upgraded, hand-sewn leather. There's an Alcantara headliner and custom built second and third-row seats. An Alpine head unit replaces the stock stereo, and there's plenty of LED lighting and even a big screen TV for entertainment while you're rolling through the middle of some shelled-out war zone.

High Price of Admission

All-in-all, the USSV Rhino GX might just be the most intimidating thing on the road. You clearly don't have to worry much about people slowing you down in the left lane. One look at this bad boy in their rearview mirror, and we're guessing they'll move over with little resistance. Of course, buying something this insane isn't exactly cheap. Or easy. Only 300 or so Rhino GXs have been built so far, probably because they cost between $250-330k. But can you really put a price on something this incredibly awesome?
