Bronco Mania

Bronco mania has once again taken over as Ford prepares to bring back its iconic model. Thus, folks are scrambling to buy classic Broncos, paying big money for that privilege in the process. For the most part, that doesn't apply to the '80s and early '90s models. But most of them can't hold a candle to this insanely beautiful 1990 Bronco we spotted over at Mecum Auctions recently.

Making It Perfect

For starters, this particular Bronco lived under the care of just one owner its entire life until January of 2018. And that person obviously babied it, because this thing is completely original and unrestored, yet absolutely amazing. The new owner, Colin Comer, then went to extremes making it as perfect as possible.

"I might have done a lot more than the truck needed, but it’s just such a great machine that I saw no excuse not to return it to as close to new as I could," Comer told Mecum. "After all, there are a lot of third-generation Broncos out there, but very few that truly deliver the experience of seeing and driving a brand new one."

Pursuit of Perfection

That's a sentiment most of us can get behind, yet it's also an expensive and time-consuming thing to do. Regardless, somebody's got to do it, right? Comer started out by having the original 351  engine completely gone through by Tri-Star Engines to ensure that it was running like new.

Rebuild Everything

He followed that by having the transmission, brakes, front suspension, and almost every other mechanical system rebuilt. Then the factory A/C system, which was also converted to R134A. Even the original factory Ford radio was removed and redone to ensure that it performed as new.

Hard Work Pays Off

All of which sounds pretty obsessive, especially for a Bronco model that's remained largely unloved for most of its life. But we can certainly attest to this type of obsession, as we've been there ourselves a time or two. And in the end, it'll pay off for the new owner in a big way.

Fantastic Looks

On top of all that work, this Bronco came equipped with quite a few nice factory options as well. They include quad shocks, a heavy-duty suspension, and a rare black/red color combo. With four brand new tires wrapped around factory-style wheels, it's most certainly a fantastic looking machine.

Paying the Cost

If there's a Bronco from this particular era that can help bring more attention to a forgotten slice of history, this is it. Essentially a brand new '90 Bronco, we can't think of a better way to get behind the wheel of a big-bodied classic SUV. Now, the only thing left to ask is, how much will that privilege cost?
