Stuffing four-digit horsepower into a classic Ford F-100 is a fun and effective way to defy the basic laws of physics.

Full-Blown Monster

With a couple of exceptions (Raptor, Lightning), trucks were never really designed to go fast. But that won't stop folks like John Jinnings from defying the laws of physics and making them that way. But Jinnings' classic Ford F-100, recently featured over at Hot Rod, isn't just some hopped-up street machine - it's a full-blown monster.

Peak Curiosity

Unlike most builds, Jinnings actually started this one with the motor, not the truck. He caught wind of turbo-maker Hellion Power Systems building Coyote-powered Mustangs that produced nearly 1,000 horsepower at the wheels, and his curiosity was peaked.

Unconventional Choice

Next, Jinnings needed to find a vehicle to stuff that monster motor in. He figured that an F-100 would do the trick, but even that proved to be a tight fit. A truck might seem an unconventional route otherwise, but that was kind of the point.

Triple Threat

Jinnings didn't just want to stuff a high horse motor in an old truck and call it a day, after all. He also wanted to build something that could also turn corners, cruise comfortably, and rip up the drag strip.

Solid Foundation

Clearly, that meant the right chassis and suspension setup was key. So Jinnings went with a Roadster Shop Fast Track foundation with a four-link, tubular A-arms, Corvette spindles, and Penske shocks. Big old Baer six-piston disc brakes with 14-inch front rotors and 13-inch rears help slow it all down in a hurry.

Steamrollers

Big wheels and tires were next on the docket, and that need was filled with 19x9" Forgelines up front, 20x12" in the rear, and Michelin rubber all around. The latter of which necessitated a pair of tubs in the bed to make room.

Luxurious Insides

The luxurious custom interior is quite the opposite of what you'd find in a race car/truck. Supple leather covers just about everything, and there are a plethora of Dakota Digital gauges stuffed in a '64 Falcon panel.

Functional Beauty

The entire outside of this classic F-100 was reworked and smoothed out, and all of the factory seams were sealed as well. There are also plenty of functional additions, including front air ducts under the bumper that feed air to the intercooler.

Massive Mill

Of course, the engine is a big part of this truck's story. And it started with a 2nd gen Coyote that was fully built and then topped with a pair of Precision 62mm turbos. An a 4R70W four-speed automatic handles the shifts and sends power back to a 9-inch rear stuffed with 3.70 gears.

Stunning Speed

After two years of hard work, Jinnings' certainly looks to have accomplished his original goals with this F-100. But not only is it highly capable of winning races of all sorts, but it's also quite the stunner to look at!
