This diesel-powered Ranger was built to dominate a different kind of competition.
Unique Build
Trucks typically aren't the type of vehicle that individuals, let alone professional racing outfits, choose to transform into corner-carving track machines. But the wild Ranger you see before you comes straight from Ford Thailand Racing, and is it certainly looks the business. The interesting, diesel-powered pickup was built for a purpose, of course, and that's to compete in the Thailand Super Series Super Pickup class.

Deep Roots
The Ford Ranger has deep roots in Thailand, of course, as the Blue Oval manufactures trucks there. The Ranger Raptor also made its global debut in Thailand, so you could say that it's an important market for the mid-size pickup. So it makes sense for the Ranger to campaign in the wildly popular Super Pickup class in the country as well.

Aero Bits
This particular racer actually started life as a regular Ranger SuperCrew before it was blown apart and rebuilt as a track-dominating beast. On the outside, that process included installing a Ranger Raptor grille, a big front air dam and rear diffuser, and a large adjustable rear wing.

Turning In
The suspension setup consists of Ohlins components and a coil spring rear suspension in place of the original leaf springs, though Ford Thailand doesn't go into specifics about what's been done underneath, understandably. After all, this is a competitive racer. Big Wilwood brakes have also been fitted to all four corners to help consistently slow it down in the corners.

Keep It Simple
The interior is simple, as one might imagine, with just a single Racetech racing seat and a full cage to protect the driver. The Ranger is powered by Ford's 3.2-liter inline-five cylinder diesel engine, which has received a tune at the minimum. However, Ford isn't talking power figures.

David vs Goliath
The driver of this racing Ranger rows their own gears via a six-speed manual transmission. The factory-supported and built pickup was put together with one specific purpose in mind - to take down the big boys in the series that have been consistently doing this for many years now.

New Level
Ford's history in motorsport is quite rich and far-reaching, but this Ranger takes things to an entirely new level. It's quite simply the last thing anyone would expect to see carving up corners at the local track, but it's good to know that the multi-purpose pickup is capable of doing more than just hauling, towing, and off-roading.
