Bringing the Future Forward

With automakers the world over about to go headlong into the electric car market, full-immersion of electric vehicles on roadways across the United States is still believed to be at least a decade away. After all, all automotive revolutions take time to come to fruition. The Los Angeles, California suburb of Hawthorne is home to Zero Labs Automotive, who is hoping to facilitate the electric revolution by electrifying classic designs. Their first big project? Reimagining the oft-critiqued but universally beloved Ford Bronco with an all-electric powertrain.

Classic Look, Contemporary Power

Zero Labs has taken old Ford Broncos and added a bevy of awesome “restomod” features to both their exterior and interior, creating a look that’s as retro-cool as can be. What’s best, of course, is the fact that these zero-emission restorations will never cost you a cent at the pump. And while these reborn Broncos aren’t quite the little beasts their gas-guzzling forefathers were, they can still ride like wild horses.

Don't Call it a Comeback

Zero Labs’ updated Ford Broncos offer as much as 440-horsepower and a range of 190 miles from the truck’s electric upgrades, an impressive output considering each remodel utilizes over 1,000 fully-redesigned parts for each vehicle. The fact that each of Zero Labs’ “new” Broncos is a restoration is key to their ability to maintain their Ford Bronco status, since only Ford Motor Company has the legal right to reproduce vehicles with Ford badging.

Take Me to Your Leader

Why Ford Bronco? Fans of classic trucks love the vehicle’s big, boxy utilitarian look, one that offers a sort of sci-fi type charm, particularly with Zero Labs’ new features. The truck's interior and exterior offer a unique, turn-back-the-clock type aesthetic that reimagines the truck as something that may have dotted across the landscape of the moon in a 1950’s sci-fi novel.

Timelessly Cool

Each of Zero Labs; reimagined Ford Bronco interiors features crisp, clean white leather seating, sharp wood accents and retro-licious knobs, shifters and fan vents. All-in-all, it's resto-mod design perfection: a full embrace of the past in a futuristic aesthetic.

Vintage Power, Modern Elegance

The truck's premium interior materials include handmade walnut or bamboo paneling and an option for vegan interior hand-stitched upholstery coverings. Each Bronco will also feature a five-speed manual transmission with optional 4WD and adjustable FOX coil-over suspension.

Limited First Edition

Reservations are already being made available for Zero Labs’ First Edition electric Ford Bronco’s through a no-money-down application process. Electric vehicle and resto-mod connoisseurs can only hope it’s the first in a new tradition of reimagined classics that are given an emission-free, design-centric overhaul that celebrates the history of the Bronco while powering headlong into the future.
