Unique Build

There are, of course, a million and one ways to build up classic Ford trucks. Some like them stock, others like them lifted and sporting wild paint jobs. But what we don't often see are older pickups outfitted for doomsday, or maybe some Overlanding if your imagination doesn't run that wild. So this very cool-looking '79 Ford F-350 we spotted at Worldwide Vintage Autos is definitely interesting, to say the least.

Standing Out

There's so much going on with this F-350, in fact, that it's hard to figure out where to start. So we'll just begin by pointing out the truck's unique green color, contrasted by black-painted trim pieces. This combo is certainly unique, but it's also quite sinister looking. And we absolutely love it.

Intimidating Stance

Of course, it doesn't matter what you do in terms of paint if the truck doesn't have a proper stance. Luckily, this one most certainly does. Lifted and sitting high on some off-road tires, this F-350 probably scares at least a few folks while it's rolling down the road.

In and Out

But no matter how tough a truck looks, it has to have the right equipment to get you where you need to go. This F-350 has a host of goodies to suit that purpose, including ARB air lockers in the front and rear. Steep 4.88 gears will undoubtedly help you emerge from any obstacles you encounter along the way, too.

Fully Outfitted

There's also the requisite winch upfront in case you do get stuck somewhere. And the rest of this truck's exterior is packed with useful stuff. That includes a massive luggage rack up top, a camper shell to enclose the bed area, and a full-sized spare out back in case of emergency.

Useful Space

Inside that aforementioned camper shell, you'll find all sorts of useful storage space and various racks and nooks for all kinds of goodies. You can pack just about anything you want back here, from tools to weapons to other supplies you might need to survive the zombie apocalypse.

Cruise in Comfort

Moving to the cab, you'll find a bit more comfort than a stock '70s Ford truck normally provides. Plush, modern cloth-covered seats sure look more inviting than the original flat vinyl bench. That piece, along with the steering wheel, appears to have been lifted from a '90s-era F-Series.

Just for Show?

The dash is an incredibly busy place as well. It's fitted with more gauges than you'll typically see in most any other vehicle. Along with a locking glove box for secure items and various buttons that do, well, who knows? This truck was reportedly built for a magazine feature, so we're guessing they're just for show.

Mighty Mill

Pop the hood, and you'll find a rebuilt, fuel-injected 460 cubic-inch V8. That mill should provide plenty of power, even if you weight down this already-heavy rig with tons of equipment. You'll have to shift your own gears via the manual transmission, but at least this truck has power steering and brakes.

Giving Credit

One thing's for sure - you'll have a hard time finding a cooler or more unique '70s Ford truck build than this. While others tend to stick to the typical mods, this one goes the extra mile to stand out in a crowded field. And for that reason alone, we have to give it plenty of props.
