Vintage

Despite investing thousands of dollars in upgrades, the owner of this F-1 truck took great pains to maintain its original look, complementing its modest trim with a gorgeous bright blue paint. The truck itself is built quite straight, and its fat fenders still look great after all these years. At the moment, this beautiful Ford truck is up for sale. Classy Touch

The bed has been filled with wood planks to give the truck a rustic feel. There's a custom rear roll pan with four taillights out back, so it's easy to spot on the roll. The rest of it, though, is quite traditional as mentioned, and it is evident that the restoration on this F-1 has been done with keeping true to the original aesthetics of the model in mind.

Interior

This is where the majority of the work was done: the bucket seats look right at home and come from a late-model F150 so they're comfortable and easy to adjust. The dash is original, however, the gauges inside are modern Faria units that were nicely integrated into the design. A tilt column features an American Racing wheel with a fat rim and the floor-mounted shifter is linked to a TH350 3-speed automatic, making the truck pretty easy to drive. Worth pointing out: all the wiring is new, and aftermarket turn signals were added, since in 1952 they were still not standard equipment on pickup trucks. A Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo was installed too.

Powerplant

The engine is a 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 tucked down low in the engine bay so it (almost) looks authentic. This results in the vintage pickup performing on par with a modern muscle car. It's a nice touch to see that it was painted the same corporate turquoise as the original flathead V8, although the Edelbrock intake manifold, 4-barrel carburetor, and chrome air cleaner suggest there's a bit more horsepower on tap.

Upgrades All Around

The chassis incorporates a Mustang II front suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, 4-wheel disc brakes, and a lowered suspension that rides extremely well. The exhaust system is just about right, with a burbling exhaust note complements of a set of glasspack-style mufflers. Familiar Torque Thrust wheels look perfect wrapped in staggered 15-inch radials to give it a bit of a rake.
