1. What Innovative Ford Engine Came Out In 1932?

Answer: Ford Flathead V-8

The Ford flathead V-8 may not have been the first V-8 engine ever, but there is no question that this engine brought V-8 power to the masses. The simple design allowed Ford to cheaply mass produce the V-8. It went on to become one of the most iconic engines ever made.

2. What Engine Powered The 1993 F-150 SVT Lightning?

Answer: 5.8L Windsor V-8

The big V-8 in the 1993 Lightning made 240 horsepower and 340 pound-feet of torque. That was enough oomph to push the truck to 60 mph in just a bit over 7 seconds. That might not sound quick today but 30 years ago it was quite an accomplishment. This was the beginning of the Ford performance truck scene.

3. Who Did Ford Partner With in 1982 to Develop a New Line of Diesel Engines?

Answer: International Truck and Engine Corporation

Ford wanted to create the most powerful and dependable trucks in the world. To do so would require a special engine. So, Ford turned to the International Truck and Engine Corporation (later re-named Navistar, Incorporated) for help. The outcome was a 6.9L indirect injection engine. It made 170 horsepower and 315 pound-feet of torque. Not numbers that you would write home about today, but was the start of the iconic Power Stroke diesel story.

4. What Year Did Ford First Put the EcoBoost V-6 In F-150?

Answer: 2011

The year 2011 was a big one for Ford trucks. One of the reasons is that it was the first year that Ford put the twin turbo 3.5L V-6 EcoBoost under the hood of the F-150. It didn’t make sweet V-8 sounds but it made sweet V-8 power. The engine was rated at 365 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. That was 5 horsepower and 40 pound-feet more than the 5.0L V-8 that year.

5. What F-Series Engine Was Also Used in Generators, and Agricultural Equipment?

Answer: 300 Inline-6

The 300 inline-6 engine was first released in 1965 and Ford kept it in production for over 30 years. Not only could it be found under the hood of a Ford truck, but it could be found in plenty of other places as well. This powerful and reliable engine ran everything from woodchippers to generators to tractors.

6. What is the Most Powerful (Horsepower Rating) Ford Truck Engine Ever?

Answer: 5.2L Predator V-8

Pop the hood of a new Ford Raptor R pickup truck and you will find the most powerful engine (based on horsepower) ever put into a Ford pickup truck. Borrowed from the Shelby GT500, the Predator V-8 makes 700 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque. The supercharged V-8 makes all the right sounds and has enough power to leave everyone else behind.

7. How Much Horsepower Did 1918 Ford Model TT Truck Make?

Answer: 20

About 100 years before the Raptor R pickup Ford was building the Model TT truck. At this time Ford built trucks using components from their cars. The engine was no exception. Under the hood of the Model TT was the tiny 4-cylinder engine that made only 20 horsepower.

8. What Was the First Year Ford Put the Coyote V-8 In Their Trucks?

Answer: 2011

We told you 2011 was a big year for Ford trucks. Ford had been putting V-8 engines in trucks for decades. But 2011 was the first year that it got the Coyote V-8. The engine made 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque.

9. List All Available Engine Options for First F-150 (1975)

Answer: 300 Inline-6, 5.9L V-8, 6.4L V-8, 7.5L V-8

The first F-150 came out in 1975, and it was available with four different engine options. The base engine was the venerable 300 Inline-6 making 113 horsepower. At the top of the heap was the 7.5L V-8 that made 245 horsepower. For the 2024 model year the least powerful F-150 engine will be the 325 horsepower 2.7L twin turbo V-6.

10. What 2024 Standard F-150 Engine Produces the Most Torque?

Answer: 3.5L PowerBoost Hybrid V-6

It is true that in 2024 the torquiest gas-powered Ford F-150 is the hybrid. The Raptor R is more powerful than the PowerBoost, but the Raptor R is not a standard F-150. The PowerBoost in the 2024 F-150 will pack 430 horsepower and a substantial 570 pound-feet of torque. The days of thinking of a hybrid as a weak engine are long gone.
