1. F-150 Sales

The Ford F-150 has been the best-selling vehicle in America for 30 years, and in 2016 Ford sold over 820,000 trucks. That is more than double what the Toyota Camry sold, which is the best selling passenger car. The trucks from the competition keep getting better though, and Ford has to keep short life cycles for their trucks, which means constant evolution. The 13th generation Ford F-150 has been tremendously successful, but this upcoming one should be even better.

2. Exterior Upgrades

Perhaps the biggest exterior change for the 2018 F-150 models is the modified grille which now receives two bars, splitting the headlights in half, and making it closer to the look of the Super Duty models. If you choose the optional sport package, the two lines on the grille will match the exterior paint color, and you can expect chrome on some models and textured black on lower trims. The tailgate receives a stamped F-150 logo, and there are six new wheel designs available, which vary from 17 inches, to 22 inches. Packages like the Chrome Appearance Package will get you plenty of bling, and if you don't like that package, there are various others that will give you anything from aggressive, to luxury.

3. Interior Updates

The interior is rather similar to the 2016 models, however, the Platinum model now offers the optional Dark Marsala leather color, and the Limited model has a Navy Pier interior color option. The Sport and the Lariat models have optional carbon-fiber trim, and the King Ranch comes with exclusive Kingsville seats, which are extremely comfortable. If you liked the cabin of the Ford F-150 before, it is safe to say you will love the 2018 version.

4. Technology Upgrades

The 2018 Ford F-150 does not come up short in the technology department, with optional 4G LTE Wi-Fi connecting up to 10 devices, strong enough to use from outside the truck. The new F-150 also gets Adaptive Cruise Control, a pre-collision assist system, a blind-spot monitor, and a 360-degree camera. As for entertainment, the newest F-150 will feature Apple CarPlay, as well as a Bang and Olufsen sound system. All of that is typical for modern vehicles, but F-150 will also feature a Dynamic Hitch Assist, which allows you to see the sight line on the instrument panel display to help direct the hitch to the receiver.

5. Engine Options

The 2018 Ford F-150 will come with a standard 3.3-liter V6 Ti-VCT engine, which will take the current 3.5-liter engine's place. This new base engine produces 282 horsepower, and 253 pound-feet of torque. Upgrades include the the 2.7-liter EcoBoost turbo V6 engine, or the 3.5-liter EcoBoost, which continue on in the 2018 models with minor updates. Finally if you want a V8, the 5.0-liter VCT engine receives upgrades that increases the power and torque. Last but not least, Fords big news is an all-new 3.0-liter Power Stroke Diesel engine, which together with a 10-speed automatic transmission ought to give the F-truck the best fuel economy in the market.
