The F-650 and F-750 are Getting Even Better (photos)
For the real heavy-duty truck enthusiasts, the 2018 Ford F-650 and F-750 commercial trucks are getting upgrades that make them better than ever at getting the job done. And no truck driver ever complained about a more comfortable office.
1. Engine Options
If your commercial truck has ever struggled with a heavy load, you won't struggle with the new engine options the F-650 and the F-750 are coming out with. The 2018 models come equipped with either a 6.7-liter Power Stroke Diesel V8 engine, or a 6.8-liter V10 gas engine. These engines produce 270-horsepower and 675 pound-feet of torque, or 300-horsepower and 725 pound-feet of torque, respectively.
2. High Mileage Warranty
It is no secret the Ford F-650 and the F-750 are only purchased for one reason: long hours doing hard work. Ford is giving their customers new peace of mind with a new five-year/250,000 mile warranty. When you are dropping big money on a work truck for business, Ford gives you the serenity of knowing you're not on their own when running their businesses.
3. New 2018 Features
For the 2018 Ford F-650 and F-750 tractor models, Traction Control and Electronic Stability Control are now standard, and they are optional for other models. The new trucks also come equipped with a high-output 240-amp alternator, which helps with auxiliary lighting on tow trucks, construction trucks, ambulances, etc. Another optional feature is an automatic regeneration inhibitor on the diesel engines, which allows the driver to control when the engine goes into regeneration to clean the particulate filter.
4 Exterior Modifications
Aside from the attractive new stone gray paint color, the front bumper gets an extention of three-inches. This is designed to protect the hood from unnecessary wear, protect the truck in the case of a collision, and finally, protect the grille and limit the repair cost in the event of frontal-damage. For ease of service, the oil and transmission dipsticks have been relocated, which allow them to be accessible from ground level.
5. Built Tough
If you're wondering how tough these trucks are, you needn't worry; aside from the 250,000 miles warranty, the F-650 and the F-750 have been fully tested. These engines have been robot-tested with laps around rough courses too tough for human drivers (for very long), for over 500,000 miles. The testing focuses on putting the engines through extreme condition at very high temperatures. Finally, Ford collaborated with top-industry body makers to develop an extremely adaptable chassis, which requires little modification, if any at all, to accommodate various aftermarket body styles.
